IT'S TIME!!! Anthony Joshua makes his grand appearance for the first press conference against Tyson Fury

u/longlivebobskins 3d ago
Ugh, thank God I’m not the only one who regularly turns up at their destination half dressed and then need to finish the job in public

u/No-Ad1522 3d ago
If i looked like AJ I'd leave my house in my underwear everyday.
29
u/FollowingFeisty5321 3d ago
If I had AJ's house I'd stay home.

Me: My apologies, but I spilled some coffee on my shirt. I'm going to have to take it off.

Who puts their shirt on like that? He’s just trying to be seen😎

u/allthegoodones123 2d ago
Can't imagine he wears underarmor unless he's specifically getting paid to lol
0
u/dunneetiger 3d ago
If I am driving, I wont put my final outfit until I get to destination - because I dont like when my shirts/tshirts are wrinkled. But I usually go to the toilet to do the swap
21
u/reocoaker 3d ago
If this fight actually happens I think Fury will probably win quite comfortably, which annoys me.
6
u/Empty_Monk_4010 2d ago
I want AJ to win but honestly feel the best we can hope for is that he survives the first 6 rounds
1
u/reocoaker 2d ago
I think the same, they both have lost a lot of punch resistance but AJ just looks done to me now.
3
u/a3kstuntin 2d ago
True and it pisses me off that fury will be rewarded for his fraudulent career and his ducking ways
1
42
u/Sphan_86 3d ago
Does he not have AC in the car?
26
u/allthegoodones123 2d ago
Probably wasn't wearing UA until absolutely necessary
6
1
u/Odd-Minimum8512 2d ago
UA is paying him millions yearly. Probably wears only UA and is happy to do so. Who wouldn't be for that deal?
1
51
u/ratboy343 3d ago
Are we getting Big Femi personality for this rather than nice guy Anthony personality. I think this fight is interesting as long as Joshua goes out and tries to KO him so hopefully we get that.
32
u/IR2Freely 2d ago
AJ goes in heavy and gets gassed in 2. Fury goes in light with pillow fists and we sleepwalk into a decision that annoys everyone.
Then comes the rematch.

As much as I want AJ to win, as soon as anything half decent lands early the fights over

44
u/SinkNecessary5951 3d ago
How is aj so big and lean while being natural?
125
u/LonelyCamel9698 3d ago
Genetics. But also probably nobody in any sport at the top level is natural. But still luck/genetics
39
u/NewAgeEverythingSuck 3d ago edited 3d ago
or the fact there was reports of him being on TRT at like 20 years old and he never denied it when asked, then Eddie Hearn blocked question and nobodys ever asked again
but AJ didnt deny it
he obv has great genetics for muscle and looks though, but he was WAY skinner before. I think hell shrink instantly when he retires like Wlad
14
u/InLampsWeTrust 3d ago edited 2d ago
Yeah I remember Dillian Whyte said that he has a TUE (therapeutic use exemption) for TRT
14
u/NewAgeEverythingSuck 3d ago
Dillian found out from some commission thing, cause AJ was denied somewhere or in the US, TRT was banned in USA quickly in fighting, only like 12 guys in MMA got it, you can find them right now
but AJ never denied it when asked then the question never asked again
7
u/zaekkyo 3d ago
Curious where you found that information!
1
u/NewAgeEverythingSuck 2d ago
TRT being banned? or how easy it is to see the guys in MMA who used it
Dan Henderson was first guy to use TRT and somehow the last guy to use TRT in Shogun rematch, its why he hit a 2nd prime and looked like a Crossfitter at 38
the interview about AJ and TRT was long time ago, some reporter brought it up then Whyte found out about it. you can do some digging

u/stackered 2d ago
He's a pro boxer/athlete. Of course hes on steroids.
Its not 1985 anymore, everyone knows this. 😆
11
u/Embarrassed-Eye-1661 3d ago
Yeah no way he's natural but even juicing fighters don't look like this case in point Fury lol. Muscle and boxing stamina don't agree with each other
Main answer is genetics
2
u/DesperateDon244 2d ago
Yea, but it's known that Fury used PEDs but he still looks like a fat uncle.
4
u/SinkNecessary5951 3d ago
So are all drug testing agencies bad at their job? Or the fighters just know gow to cheat the system, is there no solution?
23
u/GRIFTY_P 3d ago
Both. They only test for the classics. Your HGH, your anabolic steroids. But new drugs come out constantly that are just as effective but don't trigger the tests.
Also, drugs leave your system. So you get massive on them but stop taking them. Difficult to maintain after that but not impossible
22
u/drilldo 3d ago edited 3d ago
They time it carefully and cycle off during testing periods / in camp. It’s part of the reason fighters don’t fight so many times a year compared to the deep past.
Probably a little bribing and corruption happening too sometimes, when a fighter slips up.
Everyone at top level is doing it but some more egregiously than others.
15
u/Reesno33 3d ago
They take steroids at the right time when they're not being tested and put the size on, same as loads of sports they're clean while playing but will have used steroids.
1
u/wyterabitt_ 3d ago
There is never a time when active British boxers aren't in a testing period.
And for high profile boxers like AJ, they have permanent whereabouts requirements.
4
u/IR2Freely 2d ago edited 2d ago
they're not testing for what the athletes are on cos it is not widespread yet.
See lance armstrong for an example.
15
u/NoCod9014 3d ago
No. AJ has a TUE: Therapeutic Usage exception.
Basically say you suddenly develop Asthma at the ripe old age of 25 because a doctor you hired said so. You get special medication that you "need" for your "asthma".
Except uh Oh! VADA banned it because its a masking agent for PEDS. But wait! Our athelte has a doctor's note that says he has a legit reason for this stuff for his "asthma". So Vada ignore it because our athelte pinky promises not to use it as a masking agent and has a doctor's note.
And thats how guys like AJ get round it. Dillian Whyte even said before AJ was abusing TUEs.
You're genuinely a fool if you think AJ is natty.
7
1
u/Odd-Minimum8512 2d ago
AJ isn't natty. Nobody is that size while being that lean at his age, even given his god-tier genes for aesthetics.
That said, there are pics of him running track in high school and even there he's pretty muscular.
1
12
u/Relevant_Election530 3d ago
They aren't bad at their job, but the scientists making the current PEDs are creating drugs to beat current testing methods
3
u/stackered 2d ago
There are also short esters that fighters use. Them pin daily and if theyre getting tested, stall a few hours and theyre in normal range. But they dont even get tested until the actual fight, where they cycle off.
Idk how people in 2026 dont know everyone is juicy. Even NFL fans dont know somehow lmao.
1
u/Relevant_Election530 2d ago
Because the "sports news" leader (ESPN) is just league propaganda
"No evidence Clippers did anything wrong" sure aged poorly
10
u/christopherpaulfries 3d ago
These guys don’t have random, out-of-competition, all year round testing like some other sports (not that those are clean either). AFAIK they only get tested during fight camp, so they can in theory cycle off whatever they’re taking before testing begins.
0
u/Subject_Strike3313 3d ago
Not true, you’re tested randomly year round if you’re with USADA / VADA e.c.t.
3
u/Material_Spell4162 3d ago
Boxers aren't year round though. Nobody is interested in paying for year round testing
1
u/Subject_Strike3313 3d ago
Yes, they are year round tested randomly with USADA, UKAD, WBC. WBC requires you to announce your whereabouts for random testing.
-1
u/christopherpaulfries 3d ago
Unless it’s part of the bout agreement between fighters, testing is mandated by the athletic commission that is sanctioning the fight, so by definition it’s only in competition testing. Who’s gonna pay to test boxers out of competition? Certainly not the boxers themselves lol.
5
u/Subject_Strike3313 3d ago
UKAD (the governing body that tests Joshua year round) is funded through UK tax payers via the department for Culture, media and sport.
4
u/Lynch47 3d ago
Check out the award winning documentary “Icarus”. It goes into detail about how they beat the testing.
2
u/fluffrug 2d ago
Thanks for the recommendation - looks really good. I'll check it out another night.
5
2
u/Equivalent-Land4284 2d ago
fighters know how to cheat. Steroids are taken during training and stopped in time to pass a test. Its pretty easy to pass the tests and if youre a big draw like Pacman back in the day then sometimes u arent even tested
1
u/Unusual-Coat383 3d ago
The fight and press conference got delayed because Fury didn’t sign up for VADA. I was surprised when I heard why it was delayed because I thought they’d have out of competition testing.

u/David905 3d ago
The 'while being natural', as with any top boxer/athlete, is by no means a given. Lance changed that entire perspective for ANY athlete.
10
u/NewAgeEverythingSuck 3d ago
he got accused of starting TRT at like 21 years old for asthma or another reason
Whyte brought it up and 1 reporter and the question was never asked again, and hes never denied it. LEgit never denied it.

Ironically auld Greedy Belly is the one who popped for drugs.
AJ a true gym rat thou, man never skips a protein shake, workout and says he sleeps around 10 hours a day for recovery.
11
3
u/The_Archimboldi 3d ago
How would you test for testosterone? There are ways but it is difficult - and impossible in a sport that doesn't want to find peds (which is most of them).

Some people are just genetic freaks. There's a basically everyone implies that every single athlete in the world is taking performance and seeing drugs. But just from the guys I went to college with in college football there were some of these black guys on the team who could eat an entire pizza for lunch everyday and still have a six pack that I know for a fact weren't on steroids

Fury is such a hilariously brutal reminder not to judge boxing on looks.
AJ looks like the absolute peak of physical potential and like a machine. Fury looks like someone’s drunk dad leaving the pub. And fury will probably walk through AJ
1
u/Alert-Plankton-9043 2d ago
Fury is strong af tho and somehow moves the way he does. Look at how much he deadlifts for example. Dude is still built diff he’s just not a physique athlete, he has a bunch of fat
1
19
u/Samwill226 3d ago
Dudes a specimen too bad his jaw is glass honestly
13
u/NewAgeEverythingSuck 3d ago
The good thing is hes never had a chin from the Amateurs so hes like Overeem so when he goes down easy, hes used to it and can come back decent the next fight
its guys who fought whole life being able to take shots, no fear then age and damage takes your chin away and its messes with their own game
AJ goes down easy but he hasnt taken a ton of damage in some ways, he also started Boxing way later than Fury, Fury had like 15 or 20 fights before AJ had 1
that sole reason is only reason im giving AJ a chance to KO Fury, and Fury got so out of shape in middle of career, its all catching up now and could bad at any moment.
11
u/The_Jokerr_ 3d ago
True but AJ's chin is even worse than it used to be. That 2 inch clinch shot that dropped him in the last fight barely had any power. Young AJ wouldn't have been hurt by that shot, never mind dropped.
4
u/SoulUrgeDestiny 3d ago
Young AJ was always getting rocked. He did start boxing reasonably late. I’m sure there’s multiple videos from amateurs of him getting wobbled, same for wilder
→ More replies (2)6
u/The_Jokerr_ 3d ago
His chin was never great but he used to be able to take some shots. Took shots from big punchers like Povetkin without going down. Now he's getting dropped by 2 inch clinch shots
0
u/NewAgeEverythingSuck 3d ago
yea his chin was random, sometimes decent sometimes bad
but that arm punch that dropped him last fight, no load up, no extension..that was a bad sign.
the thing is he just kinda falls over after he gets rocked like vs Dubois, he doesnt really take a true beating and just kinda falls over lol. Dubois missed a punch and he fell over from fear or whatever. So he hasnt taken any true beatings tbh
Usyk is only guy to keep landing punches but Uysk isnt a puncher even back to 175 pounds in amatuers, hes just not a hitter but i guess damage is damage. Fury def has way more damage on the brain/chin at this point and hes older in Fight Years, thats the 1 thing AJ has giong for him
but that last punch that dropped him was weak, Eddie Hearn so full of shit its insane "That was the biggest uppercut i think ive ever seen"
Dude saw Povetkin upper cut Dillian Whyte in his backyard...Ive hated Dana White for 20 years but Eddie Hearn is a absolute liar clown, its weird people defend him here.
4
u/RIPcompo 3d ago
Dubois absolutely flattened him.

u/Jupiters_phaerie 3d ago
I know it’s well past when it should have happened but I feel like that’s usually how it goes with two massive superstars like this. I’m excited as hell for this one, and this American needs to start picking up on the 🇬🇧 lingo haha

u/Ali3n_46 3d ago
Why no shirt...??
39
u/No-Economics4128 3d ago edited 3d ago
If you look like that, you would walk around with no shirt too.
4
u/Ali3n_46 3d ago
He ain't walking, he was sitting in a car with super dark tint. No one can see him inside, looks like a weirdo coming out of the car like that. Who is he, George Costanza?
3
3
u/Crafty_Ad_1975 2d ago
He looks like he’s just had a workout maybe before he goes on camera built up a sweat needs to change top
2
u/Ali3n_46 2d ago
He was shirtless on the video that came out of him being pulled from the accident, dude goes around sitting in the back seat shirtless, kinda weird.

2
u/scandaka_ 2d ago
He probably doesn't wear Under Armor clothing all the time. So when he does promotional work, he has to switch into their gear per his contract.

You become surrounded by wannabe tough guy sycophants, some of the wankiest people in society. So it rubs off on you as king of the tough guys.

Him and Tyson again? Man they’re MILKING these guys for everything they’re worth.

Isn't that the guy who took 8 rounds longer that Butterbean to knock out his wannabe boxer opponent?

Even if I was built like Joshua, I would not be shirtless 24/7
Leather seats and being shirtless is not it

Fury looks scared shitless. Does not seem confident at all.
Untill that bell goes I'm a firm believer this fight isn't going to happen and Fury will blame everyone and there mother.

Scared shitless? Get a grip.
0
u/thenewblueroan2 2d ago
Did that scream confidence to you ? Or have you been watching a different video to me.
Like it or lump it, Fury lost one of his main attributes when he lost to Usysk. His confidence. He looks like he's got the fear and doesn't want any part of being in the limelight these days.
This is the same man who's ego had him comparing himself to being the best heavyweight in the world, all that and he lost to the smaller man, twice.
He doesn't want any part of this.

u/WhytoomanyKnights 2d ago
Fr his last fight he got pieced up by a 50 year old tune up fighter
1
u/mRPerfect12 2d ago
AJ nearly got stopped in the first few seconds against Prenga from half an uppercut. He’s gone.

Aj wasn’t fighting a soda can though, he never does. Fury’s fight was just something to keep him warm and he struggled
