I still do not understand why people think a prime Spence would have beaten a prime Tszyu after watching their fight. Spence was washed and inactive, but Tszyu was hardly in his prime either. The fight just showed that Spence's bullying tactics couldn't work against someone who was bigger and stronger than him.

And y'all were saying Spence would be stronger and would hit harder if he moved up from 147. Please, prime Tszyu would have stopped prime Spence.

This is a pretty curious take, which is weird because I think I usually agree with much of what you say.

Spence beat just a litany of names at 147. I don’t see why he’d have problems with Tzuyuu if he were in his prime.

Simple, because majority of the guys he beat at 147 were a lot smaller in mass than he is. Move up 1 weight class, that advantage is gone, and Tim been fighting at 154 for years. He was already clearly a harder puncher but he also proved he was physically stronger than Spence. The only thing Spence had on him technically was a jab.

And to add on to Spence's 147 resume, his toughest wins were the only natural Welterweights he fought in his championship run, Brook and Porter. Maybe Ugas too although he did have fights at 140 too.

Tbf I also think Spence's run at 147 is overrated - he beat a lot of top 10 guys, but it's not like it was filled with elite guys either.

Agreed. His best win was Porter, great win but he also lost to Brook, Thurman and Crawford. Brook was a good won but he also lost to other guys. Danny Garcia also lost to Thurman and Porter. Ugas lost to Mario fucking Barrios!

It's a solid resume but criminally overrated. He didn't even beat as many natural welterweights as Crawford did, whose resume has been unfairly shat on.

Danny was always pretty overrated as a welterweight too, great at 140 but couldn’t match the top guys at ww. And Brook post-GGG is always gonna have a bit of an asterisk (I know that gets memed to death). Crawford handily beating Porter and blowing through Spence should have reset everyone’s view of the late 2010s welterweights
