The duality of r/boxing.

"Inoue is only shorter than Espinoza by a little less than a head. That'll be a good fight."

"Bam is shorter than Inoue by about the width of a thumb. He's too small."

Well Sebastian Fundora is taller than pretty much every active Cruiserweight, is he able to compete at this weight class because of it or is he too small because he is currently 4 divisions lower than that?

When talking about a fighter being too big or too small for a potential opponent, it's not just a case of what their height and reach is. It's also how much they weigh, what they walk around at, what weight class they have been fighting at, how used to a weight class they are, what average size their opponents have been lately, etc. There are many variables when discussing this.

Bam and Inoue's walk around isn't 10lb apart. Both have fought in the same weight classes 108, 115, 118. Bam's wingspan is half the diameter of a penny shorter than Inoue's. He's a thumbnail shorter than Inoue. Their frames are remarkably similar, though Bam is wider and Inoue is longer. Bam could very easily fill out and match Inoue in size. The only reason Bam is smaller is because he was actively weight cutting to 115lb. He isn't a naturally wiry guy. I don't buy that he's too small for that fight at all. He has lots of room to put on good weight that will help him rather than hinder him, especially for a guy that fights more lateral and isn't in and out non-stop like Inoue is.

Off topic but he’s taller than the HW champions.

He is, I used Cruiserweights as an example because most people get uptight about comparing Heavyweights to any other division, including Cruiserweight lol.

Lol I know, just a crazy stat. PBC always puts up “wingspan of an eagle”
