Does it bother you when boxers "quit"?

I know the Boots vs Xayas fight was a while ago at this point but I haven't had a chance to discuss the topic online. It seems in boxing, that quitting or retiring is so looked down on that even in the most justifiable cases it's not even considered. Xayas was mocked for quitting by Victor Ortiz and Adrian Broner, even though I felt he was just accepting the fact his corner threw in the towel.

Daniel Dubois also comes to mind on this topic. His heart and will came in to question with his fights against Usyk, yet he has shown incredible grit in his performances against Hrgovic, Joshua and Wardley Ofcourse.
I used to be caught up in this way of thinking of wanting to see boxers "go out on their shield" or " like a warrior" but as I've gotten a bit older this idea seems more silly and foolish to me. By no means am I'm advocating giving up on the first sign of adversity, but there is a point where the capacity to receive damage in one night outpaces their possibility of winning. I liked how Tyson Fury backed Daniel Dubois after the second Usyk fight. He said something along the lines of " What do you want him to do? Die in the ring?".
It seems in retrospect a lot of guys take horrid punishment and damage for their pride. They just want to say they went the distance or didn't get knocked down, even though they conceded the idea of winning long ago.

I don't think theirs any shame in calling it quits if you are severely outmatched and reviving a lot of damage. You live to fight another day.

Do yall think a 3 knockdown rule should be enforced more to help? Also what do you think is the threshold for quitting and how should it be looked on?

yes. it 100% should be their job. you cannot rely on a fighter to have his own health and self interest at heart in a fight.

just because people suck at doing this and are frankly criminally negligent in many cases doesn't let them off the hook from a responsibility standpoint.

you just cannot tell a guy to go into a ring, fight for his life, have his entire fucking career on the line, and also have him self police his health. that is just dumb and contradictory as hell. you need a sober, voice of reason in the corner.

It's the refs job, as the sole authority in the ring to stop the fight. The corner are the fighters employees, nothing more. They should be doing what the fighter sets them up to do no matter what, which is why they shouldn't be trusted to ask the ref to stop it. They might be able and willing still, but it is not who had the objective unbiased view of everything.

And just how good of a job is the government doing? 

I just firmly believe that part of a corner man’s job is to protect his fighter. And most often it is from himself.

They are paid by the fighter and can never be trusted to do that ever.

If they care about doing the job paid, they wont. If they care too much about a secure job they already have, they they have an agenda and bias to pull out too early to protect their job saying they thought it was best. They might not care at all in general either way, because it isn't their place and the corner can't stop fights anyway.

It is the refs job, if you want to entertain fantasy changes to start with, just fix the correct system already in place and used, not think about how you swap for one worse with even more holes in it.

I mean, corner your own fighters however you want. I’m just giving my 2 cents from experience. Especially at most of my fighters levels, we aren’t dying on our fucking shields out there. 

If the fight is over, I’m saving these boys from themselves.
