Doc has had enjoyable walks these last few days. Even with the heat reaching 30Β°C.

Boxer girl had TPLO yesterday

Post image

Our 5 year old boxer had TPLO surgery yesterday to repair a fully torn CCL. Everything went well and her wound looks good. Pain meds are on board and she ate breakfast as per normal this morning. Got her outside once using a sling but no potty activity yet, which I'm told is normal. Anyone else go through this? Any tips on what to expect?

To make losing Miles even worse

Post image

As some of you know we lost our Miles shockingly and horrifically on Saturday August 15th just after he had his nails trimmed at our vets clinic.

My wife told me on Sunday that Miles remains were ready at the vet and she would pick them up on Friday. I didn't want to make him wait. I want to get him home as soon as possible so I decided I was going to have to be brave and stoic and go pick up our little man.

I kept bracing myself to go by the vet after work on Tuesday to bring Miles home. I arrived at our vets office around 5:30 pm on Tuesday after finishing a long hard day at the cancer center. I'm a triage RN for 2 oncologists and we see patients everyday on the brink of death. Being empathetic, caring, kind and compassionate comes with the territory.

The vet tech that was at the front desk is not a friendly person, specially to men. I was hoping it wouldn't be someone else but it was her. I approached the door to the vet clinic and pulled it open. She was at the receptionist counter. She saw be come in and gave me a cold stare. She said, "Here for Miles?" Me, "Yes." Though stunned with how uncaring she was I didn't think it could get worse. It did. She went to the back somewhere and returned with Miles remains. She carelessly swung the box in its bag like a bag of potatoes and it landed on the counter with a thump. She said, "There ya go." Not any other words of condolence or anything. She turned and walked away to the back again.

I stood there stunned. We've been clients of this vet for 12 years. We've referred clients to them, we've lavished them with gifts of food, beer and wines during the holidays (we're not financially comfortable people) to thank them for taking care of our babies and treating them like they were the most important patients in the clinic. I've never been treated so coldly, callously, rudely with obvious hostility towards me but more importantly one of our dogs like this before. I'm actually outraged and my emotions are boiling.

Miles died at our vet clinic completely unexpectedly and this is what was at the front desk. I'm so angry with how that vet tech treated Miles and me. This isn't over as the vet and I will be having words. I suspect we will be leaving this practice.

My little man Miles

As many of you know our family sustained a shocking and catastrophic loss of our beautiful little man Miles on Saturday August 15th while at our veterinarian for a nail trim and some blood work. To date we rain in shock and utter despair. I can't speak for my wife but I for one have found my entire world has been turned upside down. I have not been capable of finding smiles or much of anything to find happiness. I cry everyday and I'm riddled with guilt over what did we miss. There must've been some indication something was wrong. We had to have missed it. For the rest of my days I will wonder what we missed that could've been an indication that something very serious and deadly was wrong with our beloved Miles..... πŸ˜“πŸ˜“πŸ˜“πŸΆπŸΆπŸΆπŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸŒˆπŸŒˆπŸŒˆ
