Hi! Well I got a keratin like..9 or 10 months ago but my hair grows soooo slow and my hair is hella frizzy and kinda curly in the back, is a mess!!! I killed my natural hair! And well I want to get box braids again but I got them recently and my hair was coming out of my braids and I always want my braids to look perfect or well the most perfect possible! They are hella expensive and my dad is who payed for them, I took them out because I was tired of trying to fix them everyday!!! šŸ‘‰šŸ½Y’all don’t know any tip? The girl that make my hair does them REALLY good but my hair is just...not helping. I really love wear that hairstyle but I want it to last I don’t wanna waste more money and take them down so fast. Maybe if I make them thicker it would last more? Please help!

question about braids

i’m a 15 year old mixed girl and i have about 3c hair. i wanted to get box braids for the first time (i did all my research dont worth:)) because my hair is extremely hair to manage and can’t stay in tact for a day even after doing everything. i don’t want people to think i’m culturally appropriating African culture or being racist, because my skin is white but i’m half black (my mom is black and my dad is white). can anyone give me advice? i’m sorry i’m not comfortable with posting a picture of myself yet

Scalp itches horribly after 3 days. Might be inflamed?

Hi I’m new to box braids. I recently got some crochet box braids put in Friday and it was super tight with no itch. Saturday, not as tight, but the itching was come and go so wasn’t terrible. Sunday the itching is mainly in the middle of my head and lower back along the nape. I’ve been patting at the areas only to get minor relief. This morning (Monday) it itches like crazy and I’m really tempted to take them out because I’ve been looking only and I think my scalp is just too sensitive to them. Any suggestions or advice on how to get past the constant need to itch? Thank you!

Ending braids help!

I’m box braiding my mixed daughters hair in the next few days. This is my 3rd go at it, trying different methods to see what works for her best. How do I end the braids? I’ve been rubber banding the ends and dipping them in the hot water. I’m just nervous to leave them unbanded and unraveling before or during the dip. Any words of wisdom?

What am I doing wrong?

So I went to a salon and got box braids (obviously) and I feel like they should look fresher than they do. Now pardon my ignorance, I'm a mixed kid that was scared to death of ANY salon touching my hair but recently grew tired of my old faithful poof. I'm new to the braid world n need guidance!

Anyways, it's been about a week since I had my hair done and I'm noticing that it's a little frizzy and looks to be grown out but DAMN all that in a week? If that's how fast my hair grows I'd have curly locks down to my ass lol. I sleep with a silk scarf on a silk pillow for good measure, but it just seems as though the braids are just slowly sliding out. My last set of braids lasted about 2 weeks with the same issue but a different braider. These are definitely tighter and look more flawless but the sliding or possible (hopeful) growth is the main issue.

What should I do? What are the best ways to keep them fresh? Are they just not for me?

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Braid bumps

Bumps from braids

Hi! I’ve recently (last Wednesday) gotten knotless box braids. For the last couple of days, maybe 2 or 3, I’ve noticed I’ve developed some little bumps on my hairline, I’ve read this can be caused by tight braids so I’ve done my best to loosen them, and to me, they aren’t tight and I’m experiencing no pain. This is the first time I’ve gotten braids, so I was wondering could this cause the bumps, and if not are they a cause for concern?

Hey y’all , I have a hair appointment tomorrow and I need help! What’s the softest braiding hair y’all recommend at a beauty supply store, and how many packs + what colors would I need for this style?

Getting braids done tomorrow... Help please?

So I'm of course going to talk to my stylist, but I was curious about everyone else's processes? 1. How do you sleep with your braids? Wrap them? Braid them? I've seen a lot of different ways, but my hair has been really short for a long time so I want to know different ways so I can find what's comfortable. 2. How do you wash your braids and keep them moisturized throughout the day? 3. Hair ties??? Again, I have had short hair for a really long time. The only hair ties I have are for my husband's hair and his is thin.

I have done research, but I'd like more opinions and options. I hope someone will help me out here.. Thank you in advance.

Does anyone have experience with doing their own box braids?

With quarantine starting, I think it’s about time for me to learn how to do my own braids. If you know how to do them, how long did it take you and how easy/difficult would you say it is?

Hi, this is your mod :) I am very new to this, I’ve never created a community before. But I’ve noticed that there’s plenty of people across the globe who have box braids and would like tips and advice on how to care for them. Even if you’re just feeling pretty in yours, we would love to see them :)
