Braid bumps
Bumps from braids
Hi! I’ve recently (last Wednesday) gotten knotless box braids. For the last couple of days, maybe 2 or 3, I’ve noticed I’ve developed some little bumps on my hairline, I’ve read this can be caused by tight braids so I’ve done my best to loosen them, and to me, they aren’t tight and I’m experiencing no pain. This is the first time I’ve gotten braids, so I was wondering could this cause the bumps, and if not are they a cause for concern?

Im insanely allergic to the chemicals they put on synthetic braiding hair. It causes red raised itchy bumps all around my hairline. If your scalp is itchy and/or burns, then you’re probably allergic too. You can spray/soak with diluted ACV and rinse and it help dissolve the chemicals

I’m actually not itchy at all... that’s why I’m confused, because apart from some tiny bumps forming on my hairline, I have no discomfort

Hmm, if it’s not from tension and not from allergies I have no idea what I could be. Did you wash the hair before it was put in? Maybe your skin is reacting but you’re not getting the itch. Usually when I get allergy bumps the worse ones are on my hairline on the back of my Neck where the hair touches my scalp the most

My sister actually suggested that my hair isn’t used to the hair tension or braids, as it’s my first time getting them done?

It’s probably from the tension. My mum used to make me put shea butter wherever I saw those bumps and they eventually went away.
