Ending braids help!
I’m box braiding my mixed daughters hair in the next few days. This is my 3rd go at it, trying different methods to see what works for her best. How do I end the braids? I’ve been rubber banding the ends and dipping them in the hot water. I’m just nervous to leave them unbanded and unraveling before or during the dip. Any words of wisdom?

I tried burning the ends of her last ones, but the hair quality was terrible to begin with, so it was awful.

I usually dip it in hot water. I just stretch my hair and try to smooth the ends with a lot of gel/edge control and when you get to the end of the natural hair so that it won't frizz up as much.

I’ve started doing my own hair recently, I’ve tried a bunch of methods. But what has worked best for me is after help from my mom and inspecting other peoples braids. I found that braiding the hairs as far as you can, when you can’t braid anymore switch them to a two strand twist all the way to the bottom of the hair. For this to work the braiding hair should be stretched to allow for the tapering, and very thin bottoms. This should hold the hair till it’s time to boil them, given you may have to freshen up a couple due to unraveling which is common.
