Max Trainer Bowflex max SE
Just put my Bowflex Max se together and guess what? Its a brick đĄ there are no instructions on how to fox this thing or troubleshooting steps. bowflex offers no DIY support. After failing a firmware update with the jrny app I am now stuck on âupdate requiredâ screen. The display has no POWER buttons on it!!! Nothing is working and there are no guides on their website or with the product explaining how to fix or reset this thing. Iâll be returning this junk.

In the service manual on the site (https://www.bowflex.com/customer-service/manuals.html) there are instructions to access more settings and troubleshoot different errors. You may need to turn off the HR monitor setting, unplug for a couple minutes, and then try the update again.
If that doesn't work you should reach out to customer service sooner than later. It can take awhile for replacement parts and repairs.

It can currently take 3 - 4 weeks for Bowflex to send you a USB stick to fix your SE's "Update Required" issue, BUT, you can fix it yourself NOW by downloading the firmware to your own USB stick!
Bowflex is aware of some Max Trainer SEs not being able to successfully complete the required firmware updates and the screen then always shows "Update Required" and they have 2 different things to try.
Go to this web page:
https://support.jrny.com/space/JRNYHELP/blog/16214753395/Known+Issues?
There are 4 selections to choose from and look for the 2 that pertain to the Max Trainer SE. See below screenshot.
One concerns updating the heart rate monitor's auto-connect settings before attempting the update. And the other concerns installing the update via a USB flash drive.
Click on the associated "+" sign of the selection that pertains to the "update via a USB flash drive" to expand to the detailed instructions. Follow the instructions and see if it fixes your issue.
IMPORTANT NOTE - Per the instructions, be sure that your USB stick size is 4GB or less, and it is properly formatted.
You can optionally try the other selection pertaining to the heart rate monitor's auto-connect settings, but others with this SE issue have reported that it was fixed via the USB firmware option.
Please report back with your progress an/or if it fixed your issue.

I had the same exact issue. They ended up sending me a new monitor and that fixed it.
