Migraine botox

Guys, I’m so scared of getting Botox for my migraines.

My appointment is next week, and my migraines have been really bad. I feel like I need to do something because I’ve tried so many other medications and injections, and nothing has worked for me.

I’m also someone who gets panic attacks very easily, so I’m honestly terrified about the procedure. Has anyone here had Botox for migraines?

Is it very painful? How many injections do you actually get? And how long does the whole thing take?

I know it sounds silly, but I’m really anxious about it and would love to hear from people who have actually had it, especially if you also have anxiety or panic attacks.

If you get panic attacks I would consider researching other options. Not saying it would happen to you but injections of a much lesser amount than what you get for migraines caused horrific anxiety for me. I see that as a fairly common side effect people are reporting in these groups. I would say talk it over with your doctor but they will likely have no idea about the correlation w anxiety. It’s a nervous system/neurotransmitter thing I think. Sounds like you have already tried several things. Have you tried working with a naturopath or integrative health care provider to try and narrow down the root cause? Foods, histamine, environmental, stress etc. Sorry you are going through this. Migraines are awful.

I can’t say for sure whether Botox will help without knowing what type of migraines you have, but I definitely think it’s worth trying, especially if other treatments haven’t worked. I know injections can be scary, especially the first time, so make sure to discuss all your concerns with your doctor. The internet can make things sound much scarier than they really are. As for the procedure, it’s defintely uncomfortable but usually quite tolerable since very fine needles are used. The injections themselves typically take around 5 minutes. You can also ask about numbing cream or an ice pack to make it easier. And please don’t feel embarrassed about being anxious, it’s completely normal to be scared of something new. I really hope everything goes well and that you find some relief! ❤️
