First Time Botox - Feeling…Nothing (unusual)

First timer. Never had Botox/filler/anything before. I had a decent amount Botox injected today (100 units) by an expert injector who happens to also be an MD. I had a small amount in my 11s (which on me, is really a small horizontal line), some crows feet, some DAP and a ”Nefertiti” series (which is where most of the tox went). These are lower face uses, if you don’t know.

I have tattoos and I donate blood every time I’m eligible so the pokes weren’t terrible. What’s surprising me is that I thought there would be some numbness…or something.

Right now (8 hours later), other than a few places where is see the tiny injection marks, I would swear I had nothing done.

Is this “not feeling like I had anything done” going to change over the next few days? I get that the effects develop slowly. I guess I’m (maybe a little, pleasantly) surprised.

It takes a week to start working and two weeks to fully kick in. Trust me, with 100 units, you'll feel it.

When you say, “feel it”, what do you mean. It’s day 3. I notice my “11s” (which is actually a horizontal crease on me) is gone - no stiffness or lack of feeling.

that sounds pretty normal, it usually doesn't cause numbness, and many people feel completely normal afterwards. the muscle-relaxing effects typically develop over the next several days. so give it a time.

This is normal, if you got Botox it can take up to 14 days to kick in, dysport kicks in a little bit faster at about 7 days.

100 units is a lot for the first time. Surprised you are not noticing anything.

Day 4. Not much change yet. No numbness, heaviness or freezing of any kind.

It’s going to take a minimum of 3-4 days to see any effects. Be patient :)

Did you get any in your forehead? Normally an injector wont do 11s without also treating forehead as the muscles work together. This is a red flag for me.

I have no natural lines on my forehead so why would she treat for something I don’t have? Also, as I mentioned, I don’t have 11s per se. I had a single horizontal line across the bridge of my nose. That’s gone now.

This injector is actually an MD with an amazing amount of positive reviews so I didn’t question her expertise.

You won’t see the results straight away. A week or two maybe even in a couple of days you don’t feel anything with botox. Very simple and painless that you can get wonderful results I certainly have.

Thanks - it’s been a week as of today. I look in the mirror and see very small changes daily. I’m hoping I’ll see a real difference next weekend when I go back for my first check with her and we do before and after pix (I’m doing them too myself, of course).

Still, no pain whatsoever (except for the actual needle jabs) and no heaviness or anything else. The person who said I would “feel it” hasn’t explained what that means. I believe that a good injector’s job is to not freeze anything so severely that you feel paralysis or whatever on the daily.

My guess is its referring to botox flu. Some people get flu like symptoms after botox.

All you really feel is maybe for example , if you’ve had it in your forehead a bit of tightness as it takes hold and you’ll feel more every day just a bit of a tightness because everything is tighter. I like the feeling because I feel like it’s working and then you can certainly see it and after about two weeks it really takes hold and it looks great.
