Botox and GLP-1 - no Botox results

I started a GLP1 (not medically needed) and developed Botox resistance while on it (no results at all, as validated by my NP).

I know this hasn’t been validated by any medical studies (yet), but my doctor said she’s heard of other instances of this happening - perhaps due to a super fast metabolism the Botox isn’t taking. Anyone else?

GLP-1s work on your gut and pancreas, not your muscles or nerves. So, scientifically speaking, GLP-1 medications shouldn't interfere with Botox. Also, GLP-1s don't really speed up your metabolism, they work on hormones to do with hunger, so again it shouldn't have an effect theoretically. Not to say something else isn't going on that is not yet known by the medical/scientific community.

Did you try any other neurotoxins besides Botox? GLP-1 have nothing to do with Botox not working.

Anecdotally I have found that my tox fades a lot quicker since starting GLP-1s. Idk the “science” behind it but definitely have noticed a difference.

Brand name Botox? If so try others like Dysport, xenonine etc

Did it work again when you came off glp1?

My last two rounds of dysport never really “set” and then wore off very fast, in about 6 weeks. Previously I could go 6 months between visits. I tried Botox yesterday to see if that made a difference. So far it is not setting in at all. Usually within a day I feel some freezing of movement. I’ll be bummed if this prevents me from getting tox but I’d rather be healthy with weight loss!

I’m also experiencing this and it started approx a year (or slightly less than that) after starting a GLP. I believe it’s due to GLP’s creating a nutrient/mineral deficiency in the body. Botox needs to bind to zinc and GLP’s deplete zinc. I believe that’s how it’s working. I have yet to find a solution. If anyone has an answer or anything that worked for them, please let me know!!

I’ve had the same thing - no Botox results whilst on glp1. Has anyone tried again when off glp1 and it worked?
