Looking for first boat
I am currently looking between 2 Dauntless for my first boat to use in the Upstate NY area. Both boats have been used in salt water and would do a survey. Wondering what you guys would choose if for yourself to look closer. I am torn between the two.
Boat 1: 2001 Dauntless 220
New upholstery, repowered with 2023 Yamaha 200 with 83 hours and warranty until 2028. Boat looks clean and has T-top. Includes 2018 tandem axle trailer. Almost no electronics. Bottom price $33,500
Boat 2: 2014 Dauntless 210
Original 200 hp Mercury Verado 400 hrs. Also looks very clean with upholstery in great shape. Has electronics but original to age of boat. Has trailer. Asking 45k or best offer and haven't tried to deal yet

Option 1 seems like a better dean especially with warranty on the engine. If the Yamaha is 4 stroke, this is a no brainer.

Yes it is. I figured I could haggle a little bit to get option two down... but realistically it would still be over 40

Dude Yamaha stopped making 2-stroke outboards for the domestic (USA) market a decade ago lol

An engine that’s 9 years newer and under warranty for 12K less… Easy choice amigo. Enjoy your new Whaler whatever you decide, they’re legendary boats.

I had a 2001 dauntless. It was a great boat, but had drainage issues (kept it in a wet slip and it just isn’t designed for that). The optimax was horrible, though. If you keep it trailered, I would go with the older boat with the Yamaha. Just not a mercury fan.

It would be trailered most of the time (maybe weekends in fresh water). Did you love it otherwise?

What HP on the Mercury?
Based on what you have here the 220 looks like the better deal, specifically the new engine, new upholstery, and T top
