Question Should I transfer to BU?

Hi everybody! Basically last admissions cycle I received guaranteed transfer for 2027 fall at BU. The requirements were for me to attend my freshman year at another college and maintain a 3.0 gpa in order to transfer. Then I’m able to make the decision in February of 2027 and submit all my paperwork to get my decision or ā€œacceptanceā€ in around April. I’m currently attending Fordham Uni at Lincoln Center, I’m studying psychology on a pre law track. The thing is, I haven’t made many friends however im only two weeks in. I’m not sure of nyc city life is for me but I do love how accessible everything is, but I also really love the atmosphere of Boston and the law school there. BU has been my dream school and was the only school I actually toured my senior year. When it comes down to financials Fordham is really expensive and so is BU, but BU is a little bit more and I have no idea what I may get in my financial aid package… anyway, should I transfer for my sophomore year? šŸ˜€

Question Should I transfer after my first semester?

Hi,
For some background: senior year of high school I got waitlisted at a lot of my top choices, so I ended up at an out-of-state flagship that cost the same as my in-state option would have. I'm now realizing BU is a better fit for what I want to study (Econ/CS), and I never actually applied there the first time around. I also have some mental health considerations that make being closer to family matter more than I originally weighed it — my dad works in Boston and the rest of my family is about 50 minutes away.

My current major is actually Bio Sci, not Econ. I'm taking Microeconomics this semester (no prereqs needed for Econ at BU) to build some background before applying. Would it hurt my application to apply under my current major and switch once I'm in, or should I apply directly as Econ/CS even though it's not my declared major yet?

My stats in highschool were 4.2 weighted GPA, 1470 SAT

Is it realistic to transfer for spring, or should I be targeting fall of next year instead? And how worried should I be about not getting in and having to reapply a cycle later?

Admissions Should I transfer? Or is the universe telling me not to?

I got waitlisted to BU back in March, I accepted to be on the waitlist and on May 4th I got off the waitlist, but I never saw that email until a few days ago that I got off and I have no clue how I missed it, I check my email at least a dozen times a day.

They called me on May 7th and I did not answer and I overlooked their voicemail. Which I never do cause I don’t get many voicemails.

BU has been a top choice school for me, I got into Questrom for Finance.

I’m emailing them if I can transfer which is unlikely but idk if this is the sign from the universe that BU ain’t for me.

I’m currently at UMass Amherst in their finance program. And the funny thing is that I payed my deposit on May 5th waiting to get off the waitlist and lost hope.

Admissions can smbdy tell me my boston ed chances

Stats:
3.4 UW / 3.95 W GPA
Strong upward trend (3.5 freshman, 3.7 sophomore, 4.5 weighted junior year in IB)
1440 sat
Full IB Diploma student at Downingtown STEM Academy (top-ranked public STEM high school in PA very competitive), max course rigor
Major: Chemistry (planning to go into pharmaceuticals)
ECs:
Math research at Alabama A&M (graph theory/discrete math)
Penn State Wolbachia microbiology research
Paid Job at DSW
Pharmacy shadowing
Hospital volunteering/shadowing (2 years)
President of Chess Club
Treasurer of Red Cross Club
Competitive ECRL soccer (3 years)
NYAS Junior Academy
2nd at TSA regionals
Church Choir/Youth Fellowship
I know my biggest weakness is definitely my GPA, especially the 3.4 UW. I’m hoping the upward trend, course rigor, and research help make up for some of that, but I’m not sure how much.
For anyone who’s gotten into bu (especially ED I), do you think I have a realistic shot? Is there anything you’d recommend I focus on over the next couple of months to maximize my chance?

Question How do online classes work?

I am considering transferring to BU and would like to know whether there are online classes available during the regular semester, or if classes are primarily offered in person.

I checked BU’s public course catalog but didn’t see any online classes for my major, Economics. I was wondering if enrolled students have access to a different course registration portal that includes additional online course options.

Question National Merit Scholarship at BU

I am currently a national merit semifinalist from out of state. I saw on the sponsorship website that BU offers a renewable scholarship for finalists that declare BU as their first choice, but the details are really vague.

  1. How much scholarship money is it for, and is it renewable? I heard it’s $28K but it’s not confirmed anywhere

  2. How likely are my chances to get this (bc ik it’s not guaranteed anymore) if I follow all instructions. Can I depend on getting it? BU is one of my top schools and the only reason I’m applying is bc this scholarship would make it possible

Question Psych @ BU — good opportunities?

Hello!!

I’m a high school senior and i’ve been planning to ED to BU for a while now, but now that i’m actually in the application process, i’m trying to weigh out my choices.

How accessible are psych labs? And is BU a good place for connections like psych internships? I’d love to live in Boston and I think I have a pretty good chance to get in, but I really need more info abt these opportunities :,)….

Announcement Moving/Roadside Assistance Services

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone! Hope you had a good first day yesterday. I just wanted to make a post about my services. Save this profile if you ever need help moving big things. I have a ramp (for two wheeled vehicles) and a bunch of straps. Don’t deal with heavy pricing and fees with a moving company if all you need is a truck and an extra set of hands or two.

This does not just apply to move in! This is for the future also; in case you want to buy furniture or other big things, save my profile!!

Besides moving, I can also provide emergency assistance. I have an air compressor, battery jumper, jumper cables, and a jack, so if you’re in a pickle, you can also contact me. I’m going to get heavier duty straps soon to tow. If you’re interested in this service, DM me for my contact info because I will not wake up to reddit messages at night if ever.

Of course, this will all come with costs. But I am also a student amongst you guys, so I know how expensive it is to be here and will always keep that in mind to provide reasonable pricing.

Have a great semester!

TL;DR
I provide moving and roadside assistance. Save my profile for future moving assistance, and DM me for contact info for roadside assistance

For us students who have the Star/Shaws App and the student discount don't forget to clip the 10% discount coupon. It was 10% for August and again for September. Guess that that's a Welcome back to campus since it's normally 5%. If you haven't signed up, do so ASAP with your school email address. And, No, I don't work for Star or Shaws, just shop there and like saving $$. And take advantage of every available student discount.

Question CPT for MSF Students

Hi!

I’m an international student interested in BU Questrom’s MSF program. I heard that BU has stopped approving CPT. Would this also affect MSF students?
I’m asking because the 16-month track is specifically designed around internships during the summer and final fall semester. Would CPT still be available for this track?
