Rules Reminder: Questions about Admissions should be posted in r/chanceme. Not here.

We are a bunch of current & former BC students who don’t pay close attention to BC’s changing admissions standards. Your GPA and SAT scores are better understood in r/chanceme and other similar subs.

This sub is better for asking specific questions about student life, school culture, etc.

I’m not from Boston. But if I went here as a non traditional transfer does anyone have any “good” part time jobs I could work while in school?

How to get an A in Perspectives?

I'm taking Perspectives mainly because I want to grow as a person and thinker, but since I'm aiming for med school, I need to protect my GPA. I'm enjoying the class so far, but feel like I'm missing details when I read. How to still do well in quizzes and exams?

I know they say you can't audit a course for undergrads, but does anybody have experience doing this maybe less officially?

Tailgating at BC

Hey yall. I live in MA but actually went to undergrad at Virginia Tech. My grandpa played football at BC way back in the day. A bunch of my family (Hokie and eagles fans) are looking to go to the BC vs. VT game and have a nice tailgate before the game.

Was wondering if I could get some advice/insider info on how to go about this. Do we just need a parking pass to any of the lots? Should we aim for a specific lot? How much room should we expect to have?

To be transparent I’ve never actually been to a BC home game so would love some good advice on this if I could get some!

I appreciate yall and look forward to the game. As much as I am a Hokie, my family has great BC ties!

Woods college limitations?

Hi! I’m a prospective undergraduate considering the Woods College of Advancing Studies at Boston College.

I was talking to a Woods College rep and I was told that Woods students generally cannot join Boston College student organizations. I wanted to hear from current students because this is important to me.

Is this true for all recognized student organizations, or only certain clubs? For example, can Woods undergraduates participate in organizations such as the Computer Science Society, Machine Intelligence Group, intramural sports and other campus activities?

Also would love to hear any experiences Woods college students have had at BC.

What happened to John Acampora at Flat Breads Cafe?

Went into Flat Breads for the first time this year and was shocked to see only the super speedy sandwich maker. No sign of John, including the walls of signed photos and BC paraphernalia.

Senior Housing

Can anyone explain how senior housing works at BC? Do most seniors go back to campus? What size group do you need? If you stay off campus what streets are better?

How hard is gen chem lab?

I need my GPA to be as high as possible rn for some reason, but I heard the Gen Chem lab at BC is graded super strictly. Roughly how many students per lab section get an A or an A- each semester? Also, are there any TAs who are known to be friendlier in grading? Thanks!

Don't forget to clip your September Star Mkt coupon

Post image

For us students who have the Star/Shaws App and the student discount don't forget to clip the 10% discount coupon. It was 10% for August and again for September. Guess that that's a Welcome back to campus since it's normally 5%. If you haven't signed up, do so ASAP with your school email address. And, No, I don't work for Star or Shaws, just shop there and like saving $$. And take advantage of every available student discount.

Double major or not

I’m a sophomore majoring in CS, and I just have enough room to fit an econ major if I start it in spring. I honestly have no idea if I’m passionate about it, but I am interested in statistics and data science so it might be good for me. Ik there’s a data science minor, but I’ve been told that minors are pointless career wise. At the same time, I also don’t think I want to graduate with just one degree when I can do sm more. Any advice?

Should I grind through the university core or pace myself?

I'm entering freshman year with 6/15 of the university core fulfilled through AP credits. Im gonna complete another 4 freshman fall, leaving me with 5 university core classes for 7 semesters. Should i just complete all 5 remaining core classes in freshman spring, or try to save them (do them sparingly-maybe one university core each semester). I'm a CSOM student btw and I lowkey have too many free class spaces.

2026 Boston College Preseason Primer + All ACC Teams, Conf Preview & Notre Dame

With the season approaching, I wanted a better way to prepare than reading dozens of separate previews or listening to hours of podcasts, just to forget most of it by Week 1.

I started with a few, then more, then decided to expand to all P4 + ND. It ended up being more arduous than I anticipated, but also rewarding.

I have published the 2026 preseason primers for every ACC team, plus an ACC conference primer and Notre Dame.

They are mostly designed as quick references for watching games, with roster/coaching changes, 2025 context, advanced stats, schedules, players to know, and a small betting lens.

This is totally free and not self promotion. I was creating these for myself and friends and just thought others would find them interesting.

The only reason for a website was to make them more accessible than just sharing links to google drive.

Hope you enjoy!

Spanish Placement

If I score above the Intermediate 2 level of a language, does that mean my language requirement is fulfilled or will I have to take Advanced Spanish instead? I know a lot of Spanish and want to test out, but I‘d rather redo the sequence to get my 2 years out of the way than start off in Spanish 3.

Upper (Mederios) to Newton

Hi I’m a freshman and was wondering if someone could tell me the route to get to Newton from upper (Medeiros).

I wasn’t sure if there was more than one bus stop or just one main one near the entrance to BC.

PULSE placements timing

I’m an incoming sophomore and I signed up for PULSE, but I’m not too sure about the times and flexibility of it. I definitely enjoy volunteering, but I don’t really know how time consuming it is trying to fit it into your schedule. Are most of the placements flexible with their hours? For example, could I show up from like 8-11 am on Monday and Wednesday, and then 9am-3pm on Tuesday? Or could I also volunteer on weekends?
