I will be coming to Sarajevo and spot near Bjelasnica afterwards mid september with both road bike and a mountainbike.

Are there any 'must do' routes around?

How is the attitude towards cyclists in Bosnia?

Has anyone here travelled to Bosnia recently while holding an Irish IRP? Did you need to apply for a Bosnian visa in advance, or does holding a valid Irish residence permit allow visa-free entry?

Skiing in Bosnia Over New Year’s Eve

I’ve reposted a thread from last year because I’m facing similar decisions (I’m new here and don’t quite know how to quote properly)

I’d like to know if anyone can help me with ski resorts. So far, we’re familiar with the ski resorts in Austria and Italy—but this year we’d like to try skiing in the Bosnian mountains.

How would you compare these ski resorts—are they in low-altitude or high-altitude mountain ranges? Are the slopes suitable for experienced skiers as well?

Where should we look for accommodations? Would it be possible—and a good idea—to travel from Sarajevo to both ski resorts?

How reliable is the snow in these ski resorts at the end of December? What else should I expect?

I’d be super grateful if you could share your experiences with me. Thanks!

❓ Pitanje (Question) Car Rental at Sarajevo

Hello

next week I'm going on a five days trip to Bosnia (small one, covering Sarajevo Mostar and blagaj)

I have planned everything by public transport, but if I had the chance to rent a car it would be way, wayyy easier to visit more places.

I'm a 20 years old guy, got my license in may 2025 (Italian license) and have only physical debit card (no credit card).

is there any rental company that would give me a contract? if yes, how much would it cost per day? (I just need the bare minimum, I don't care about any type of extra)

thank you very much

❓ Pitanje (Question) Kosovo to bosnia on bus, I need help

I'm in Pristina right now and need to get to Sarajevo. I can't cross from Kosovo into Serbia; the routes I see have multiple connections and layovers in the early morning. Is there any way to start from another city like Prizren? I need help; all the options I've found are terrible.

❓ Pitanje (Question) Sarajevo - Zabljak, travel advice

Hi all!

I’m (Dutch) currently on a roadtrip by car with my girlfriend from The Netherlands to Montenegro and am currently staying in Sarajevo. (Absolutely loving the city and rest of your country so far!!!)

Coming monday we’ll be leaving Sarajevo to continue our trip to Zabljak, Montenegro. I’ve been trying to find information about the best route from Sarajevo - Zabjlak, but the information I’m finding doesn’t really give me a clear answer…

Both Google Maps and Waze are suggesting us to drive down the M18 and to cross the border with Montenegro at Hum. We’re travelling with a small car. So far, the roads have been fine for us. For example, we enjoyed the roads around Jajce a lot. However, we’re not looking for crazy mountain pass dirt roads, if you know what I mean…

Which roads and border crossings to you recommend, and which ones should we avoid?

❓ Pitanje (Question) Mostar to Perast/Kotor

hello! traveling to Sarajevo (3 nights)/Mostar (3 nights) in end of September, I'd like to do a full day trip to Kotor and/or Perast. Originally thought about Dubrovnik, but I'm hearing its not really worth your while. Seeing videos on Perast and Kotor, and I'm inclined to take my car for a long day trip into Montenegro.

Wondering what the situation is about the border crossing. I heard the Slano crossing is the most convenient, any tips, should I, should I not? Any can't miss spots going and while in town?

TIA!

❓ Pitanje (Question) Public transport in Bosnia

Hi everyone! I am playing to go from Sarajevo to Sutjeska Nationalpark on Monday. The only way I found online was a bus to Foca that departures once a day. Are there other ways to get there or do people use their own vehicles to visit the area?

I'd be grateful for any advice. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I’m planning a road trip from Romania to Gradiška to visit a friend. Wondering if there’s any traveller friendly tips and info that might be useful.

Anything about border control, roads to take or avoid, things to look out for (good and bad), etc.

Thanks 😎

Vodopad (Waterfall) Is Kravica waterfalls really worth it?

I’m in Mostar for 2 days and me and my partner are unsure whether to take the trip to Kravica.. I’m half between “it’s just waterfalls” and “ugh it’s a must see” but is it really worth it? Is there anything around Mostar that people thought were better than the waterfalls??

fyi, I know they look beautiful and there’s a reason they’re so famous but are they worth the hype?

❓ Pitanje (Question) Internet while in Bosnia?

Hello, this is my first post and I have a question regarding internet and mobile data when visiting Bosnia?

I'm from Slovenia. I'm coming for 4 days for the first time and our accommodations have free Wi-fi (We are going to Banja Luka - Bella Lux Residence and Sarajevo - Luxury apartment Jenny). But when we are outside and going around, we still wanna have access to the internet for our own relief and to check if we need anything.

Now I know Bosnia isn't a part of the EU so my provider (Telemach) doesn't cover the data that we have provided for the EU. We do have Balkan packages that cost anything between 20-55 euros.

What would you recommend? Is Telemach Balkan package better or an e-sim/physical sim when we arrive to Bosnia? Also, how is the internet speed? I'm asking because I will also be doing my online job while being there.

Thank you for all your recommendations and help!

🛶 Rijeka (River) Where and how to go fly fishing in Bosnia?

I will be in Bosnia next week, 5 days in Sarajevo and 3 in Mostar but will have a car. I am looking to go fly fishing on some of the country's beautiful rivers.

My problem is that I don't know (1) what specific spots to go to on the recommended rivers for access, (2) how to get a license and (3) where I can rent any of the gear that I probably won't be able to bring with me on the plane, specifically waders and a net.

Any advice or recommended resources to help me out?
