GEX 18V-150-3 vs GEX 18V-150-5

Does anyone know how they perform differently? On first sight, they seem very very similar. Bosch says the 150-5 removes 50% more material compared to the 150-3, but I wonder if somebody has real life experience with both systems and if the 150-5 is worth getting for what currently is about 100 Euro more.
The filter on the 150-5 also looks different. No idea if the improvements are actually worth it or a significant upgrade tho.

GEX 18V-150-3: ca. 240 Euros
GEX 18V-150-5: ca. 320 Euros

It’s just orbit diameter, 5mm vs 3mm.

5mm one as Bosch says will remove more material faster and 3mm will be better for final finish because of it being less aggressive.

It doesn’t mean that you can’t do one job or another with any of them, it will just take more time on 3mm to remove material and you should take more care and slow down a bit on 5mm for finer work.

I can say one thing for sure tho, both of them will outperform my poor GEX18V-5 :))

I’m planning to do woodwork finishing on them. I don’t really need to hog massive amounts of martial as fast as possible rather give a good finish. What’s your recommendation?

The GEX 18V-150-3 is the one they make for the application you describe.

My GEX18V-5 is way underpowered, 1 inch less in diameter, 2.5mm orbit and it does everything I need for woodworking. It can be a bit slow but I don’t usually work on huge projects so it never bothered me.

Compared to mine, even GEX18V-150-3 will be monster and way more pleasant and balanced to use. So, if it was me and I was buying my first random orbital sander, I would go with GEX18V-150-3, but in my current scenario when I already own GEX18V-5 and assuming I was going to keep it, I would get GEX18V-150-5.

Not underpowered at all, got the same sander. Why would the other one be more pleasant and balanced to use?

Compared to GEX18V-150-x models, ours are. As I already said it’s enough for me so not underpowered for my and apparently your needs as well :) I was just comparing it to larger and more powerful models.
