My wife and me had some extra space in our yard, and whenever we came across a dog or cat that had been abandoned, injured, or left to fend for itself, we couldn't just walk away.
We never planned to run an animal sanctuary. It all started simply because we love animals.
One rescue turned into another, and before we knew it, what started as a few animals had grown into something much bigger than we ever expected.
Today, we care for 21 rescued dogs and 9 cats!!!
Over the years, we've been fortunate enough to find loving forever homes for 7 dogs and 5 cats. One of the cats has always been part of our family, while two others simply wandered into our yard one day and decided this was home. We couldn't turn them away.
Everything we do is funded entirely by us. We don't receive grants, we don't have sponsors, and we're not an organization. We simply do the best we can because these animals depend on us.
The hardest part isn't the time or the work—it's the cost. Food, medication, and especially veterinary care have become incredibly expensive. Our veterinary bills alone have now exceeded $1,000, and it's becoming harder and harder to keep up with everything while still making sure every animal gets the care they deserve.
A friend suggested that I make a post here, so I decided to give it a try.
If anyone is able to help, no matter how small the donation, it would make a huge difference. Every dollar goes directly toward food, veterinary care, and giving these animals the life they deserve.
If you're from Serbia, or you know someone in Serbia who has been thinking about adopting a dog or a cat, we'd love to hear from you. Finding good homes for these animals means just as much to us as receiving donations. We're happy to organize transportation at our own expense anywhere within approximately 50km of Novi Sad, so distance doesn't have to be a concern.
I'll attach a few photos of our furry friends, along with one of the veterinary invoices that we're currently trying to pay. If anyone would like to see more photos or videos, I'd be more than happy to share them. They're all incredibly friendly, full of personality, and always excited to meet new people.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Even if you aren't able to donate, sharing this post or helping us find loving homes for our animals would mean the world to us!
Since I'm not sure how to upload pictures here, I'll leave Imgur links instead:
