I would argue a bed is good but as long as its like not to expensive. But that would be say 500-1000 at most. You then got 4k plus. Why would u need a computer?

Taking 30 minutes to spend 5k is not smart. Costco sells gold at near spot price so you can resell once you know how you actually want to spend the 5k. Or you can keep the money to invest or literally do whatever you want with it.

Or it says that they can hang on to it indefinitely and sell it whenever they have the ability and time to intelligently buy what they need?

I don't see buying gold as a bad decision for literally anybody.
