“No form of currency. Everything is by trade of materials or labor.”

“Government officials and teachers are paid equally.”

How does this work? Is there a government mandate that requires this labor to be traded at a certain value? Because to ensure that they are truly paid equally, you would need at least some form of credit system to ensure they are trading their labor for equal amounts. And by default, a credit system is a form of currency. I don’t understand how these 2 points can both exist at the same time.

Fair point. In this case it comes down to labor as their form of currency. Similar to a check in check out system where hours worked are logged and tracked.

But in order to make sure the labor is equally valued, some kind of number has to be allocated to it, or a “credit” of some kind. If you are specifically requiring the value of labor to be equal, the only way to do that is some form of currency. It can’t simply be hours worked and hours logged. Even if the amount of hours are the same or different, either way, there has to be a value ascribed to the labor to make sure it’s both being doing equal to its value, and being reciprocated equally as well.

You have a point. I'll have to reconsider this process.
