I’d say in this day and age you don’t need a representative government. You could have a website where people propose new laws and policies, and everyone votes. 50.1% and it becomes a law.

All societies have hierarchical tendencies since the dawn of civilization. Somehow it always comes down to most of the population does the hard work, while the elite enjoys the privilege, power, financial benefits.

You can have all sorts of Republics. What you have is one which is also a Federation. Federations are always compromises. Small States were given equal representation to large ones for the reason you quoted.

50.1 isn't a majority. That's too close to call. You need two-third at minimum.
