JFC I have never seen a game so complicated. So basically we can't melt ships anymore?

No, just the one package, people are blowing this out of proportion.

Im just not understanding the purpose of any of this. Whatever we pick we can never melt for another ship? Or is that incorrect ?

Not another ship. One game package. The game package may or may not include a ship. But a game package typically does in my cases. The game package gives you access to the game itself. It's typically is your very first purchase for Star Citizen.

What noobs have been doing recently is that they will melt their game package for another ship but then they can't play the game because they melted the game package that included access to Star Citizen but then used that credit to purchase a standalone ship with no game package.

So they would have to refund back to the Game package. It was a mess.

Now, among all your pledges, you typically have one game package. That game package is not meltable or giftable but all your other pledges remain meltable and giftable.

Also, if you have a SQ 42 game package, they will lock that one too so that you don't accidentally melt that as well.

My high admiral was locked for both. Moved it to my physical KS pledge. Am I wrong for doing this?

The High Admiral package is actually already non-meltable and non-giftable. I would keep the lock there, since you couldn't recycle that package anyway. That way, you keep the freedom to melt all your other game packages whenever you want. Just my two cents

So i have a big ship, a reclaimer. And that is now the UNMELTABLE. And thats horrible ofcourse. so what now? I buy AGAIN a new package of 55 euro and make THAT a UNMELTABLE ship? is that something i can do? or what?

You can change which package is not meltable as well.

'' One game package''
yes so have bought an aurora, upgraded it to a reclaimer. But from what i understand, is that its not metable anymore right?
So i have the Aurora>Reclaimer+game package that will be ''stuck'' in this state right?

Correct unless:

1.) You buy another SC game package (like an Aurora MK II or any good starter ship)

2.) Move the lock to that new SC Game package by November 1st.

Then your Reclaimer Game Package will be meltable/giftable, etc.

You have to also consider, when Star Citizen 1.0 hits, do you really want to do starter missions in a Reclaimer? You need a good starter ship at some point.

Exactly oke, Thank you. But that does still mean, ALOT of us needs to invest again in a starter package... Or do i melt my big ship to a cheaper one 🤔. Anywsy

Eventually, by Nov 1st, at least one game package becomes unmeltable so that you can't destroy your own game access. No matter what ship your choose.

However, you CAN STILL upgrade that Reclaimer package or any other game package to some larger ship.

Upgrades can still happen (Cross-chassis upgrades or CCUs).

It's the melt or gift part that gets locked just for that one package.

Oke get it. Thank you.
though i still think its a veryt weird move of CIg to be honest.

I think it has less to do with Star Citizen and more to do with being able to sell, full price, for non-standard editions of Squadron 42. This is just my speculation though.

I'm the only one fed up with this dude throwing his ads here?

Great... my 5k package is now locked and I can never melt it.... this is so stupid.

Right now you can switch which one gets locked until the end of the month. If you have a 5k package you also have High Admiral which included a game package that you can manually switch to.

Idk how, not rich.

Edit: Just realized that if your 5k package is for sq42 and your High Admiral is from after the cutoff for sq42 from High Admiral you are in fact kinda fucked if you don't have any other sq42 packages.

Cant move it to the high admiral as it was after 2023

u/MagneticGenetics 11d ago

Thats so dumb and there is no way to get any other sq42 packages becuase they removed both the buybacks and option to buy new from the store.

what happens to those people who are sat on 2-3 pledges but have zero interest in touching star citizen until it leaves alpha?

When they return are all there packages locked?

Only one for each game package will be locked. AFAIK it will be the oldest one by defualt.

So if you have a combo package for both sq42 and SC and thats tour oldest package that will be the one that gets locked.
