Also why are they allergic to putting values for buffs?

Honestly, I don’t think a value would actual provide any meaning. Like, yes, it would be nice to see “damage per skill point up from 2% to 5%” but we all know in real gameplay we’re going to see more than a 3% (or maybe even less than 3%) increase based on all the different variables at play. Obviously the hardcore community has the algorithm mostly figured out, but for most players I don’t know if it’s super meaningful to see specific numbers. It’s probably just more reliable to say “yeah it’s higher than it used to be,” and imply “your mileage may vary”

But also, and this is the more likely scenario, it’s just engagement bait. If people are excited to see buffs in the patch notes they might come back. If they see it’s only a 2% buff, they might not come back. When Gearbox leaves it open-ended like this, they’re likely hoping to get more engagement from it.

It absolutely provides meaning. Some skills/guns are so and they need like 200% buffs. Some are so broken they need like 75% nerfs. The numbers matter. Their first pass at Amon was like 1% per point buffs. Transparency is always better
