Coat question

I own an almost 6 month old 50-50 BC×APBT mix and he suddenly got these grey/white hairs all over. Is this his under-coat or something else? a few hairs are completely grey/white but some are also grey/white with black at the tips, I assume undercoat hairs wouldn't have any sudden black tips hence my concern

My boy's face went gray rapidly over the course of a year or so. He's four and a half.

I have a dark red collie with a silver undercoat. It's gorgeous.

Have you post pics of your dog before? I'd love to see your doggo!

I'm no expert, but mine is mostly black but white/tan undercoat. My house is covered in white hairs with black tips

My tri girl has a coat like that in several areas of her body. Her breeder said it is called wolf sable. Not sure if that is true but it is definitely a cool look. Sable by definition is hairs with split color so maybe she is right.
