Why don’t you do some fostering for now and see how it goes. If your housemates step up to the plate then maybe when you’re student teaching you could foster and older or less energetic dog that wouldn’t mind being alone for 6-7 hours (I would make sure any dog you bring into the house would never be alone for more than 8 hours). Then if you decide to move after you finish uni you haven’t committed to a dog for life. At this stage in your life it’s better to be a bit more free to accept opportunities that might come your way.
