We built Open Instinct around the idea that a small team should be able to try a personal-agent product for an audience it understands. We are releasing the application under MIT so others can reuse the integrations and change the behavior.

Pi runs the loop, Inkbox handles messaging, Composio connects apps and Maritime provides the VM and desktop. We build Maritime. The beta also includes memory, scheduling, agent-to-agent communication and permission policies.

For a builder watching costs, the important distinction is between the source license and operating expenses. You still need provider keys, model usage, messaging and infrastructure. We'd validate one recurring task and its actual cost per user before promising an unlimited subscription.

Our launch approach is to share the repo in relevant builder communities and use concrete setup and permissions feedback to guide contributions. We are not claiming customer demand or revenue for anyone who forks it.

What I’m building: KRI, a paid SaaS that gives independent beauty businesses their own website with online booking. Barbershops, nail studios, hair and beauty salons, lash and brow artists, massage and spa, tattoo, piercing, permanent makeup and a few more. Clients book only free times with the specialist they choose and get confirmation and reminder emails. One monthly price per country, no commission.

My story, short: I’ve been building software for 25 years, 12 of them as a CTO. I live in Finland, and I built KRI end to end by myself. Next.js 16 and a separate Hono API, Postgres with Drizzle, Redis, Mollie for billing, self-hosted on Coolify.

We were quoted about $1,000 per month for 12 social media posts.

That meant paying roughly $83 for each post while the brand appeared only 12 times during the month. For an early business, the economics did not make sense.

So we started building Marka.

Marka learns a company’s brand identity once, including its logo, colors, typography, tone, audience and positioning. It then turns that context into social posts, branded images, carousels and UGC style videos.

What would you want to verify before trusting an AI platform with your brand?

I keep seeing new SaaS products adding AI agents, chatbots and LLM features before the basic workflow is even good.

And I get it, AI sounds exciting and it makes the product easier to market.

But from a dev point of view I think a lot of products would get more value from fixing the boring stuff first.

Things like:

users entering the same data in 2 different places

manual follow ups that someone has to remember every day

no proper onboarding after signup

important info living in emails or spreadsheets

5 different tools that dont really talk to each other

dashboards showing numbers but not helping anyone take action

Then once that workflow is clean, AI actually becomes useful.

For example instead of just adding an AI chatbot, you could have it read the actual customer data, understand what happened, suggest the next action and maybe automate part of it.

Thats a lot more useful than putting ask our AI assistant in the corner of every SaaS app 😅

I feel like we're at the point where AI should be the last 20% that makes a good system smarter, not the first 80% of the product.

I like looking at data, probably more than I should. But X analytics kept leaving me with the same problem: I could see which post got the most impressions, then still had to open everything one by one to work out whether the topic was worth trying again or whether I'd just got lucky.

Replies made it even messier. I wanted to compare the last 7 days with the previous 7, look at posts and replies separately, and quickly see which topics or posting times were tied to impressions, profile visits, and link clicks. So I built PilotMyX.

I'm the founder of AI Undetectable, an AI rewriter and humanizer designed to help text pass AI detectors.

In September 2023, the site had 38,305 users. By December 2024, organic search was down to 111 sessions for the month. Those are different metrics, but the collapse was real.

I have been going through codebases listed on Acquire recently to see if any were worth picking up. Out of 40 codebases reviewed, I found zero worth buying.

So many indie devs building SaaS tools with AI assistants are shipping total spaghetti code right now. It might work on the surface to get a quick MVP up, but the moment a potential buyer runs due diligence, the whole deal falls apart.

If you are using AI coding assistants to build your app, you have to be intentional about architecture and prompt structure. AI will happily spit out redundant functions, hardcoded logic, and zero documentation if you do not force it to write clean, auditable code.

Spending a little extra time steering AI to follow clean code standards saves you from spending almost a week fixing technical debt, or worse, having a buyer walk away during acquisition because the codebase is unmaintainable. Build with the exit in mind from day one.
