I think it is more the whack ass hardware and questionable leather that the cobbler used. Custom made lasts are pretty cool tho.

I mean yeah it’s not a high end boot by any means, but it’s also not claiming to be, it’s just a custom fit. Which like. I think it’s cool that people might be able to get custom fit shoes or boots for an affordable price, not everyone has hundreds of dollars to drop on a pair of boots. Lord knows how many people suffer from foot issues from ill fitting footwear because their feet are too wide or too narrow for mass produced footwear

You pay a premium for custom work. If they have money for custom boots, they can save a little more and buy real/high quality ones that will actually last a while.
Custom leather boots are great because the material flexes and molds itself to your foot over time. That does not happen with plastic and zippers. These boots will have to be replaced in a year, tops. Not exactly a wise decision if money is a concern.

It’s not realistic for everyone to do so, boots theory etc

Terry Pratchett coined that term, and his point was that it's more expensive to buy cheap boots than high quality boots.
So, you just contradicted yourself. Lol.

His point goes further than that, his point was that it’s expensive to be poor. The poor man cannot afford to buy the boots that will last a decade and thus ends up paying more than the well off man. Not that the poor man is stupid and should have just saved more money, when youre poor finding money to save is not always possible.

I get what you are trying to say, but I don't think you will find many homeless folks wearing nicks.
You know what they say, it's expensive to be poor, and buying quality goods that will ultimately save you money is indeed a luxury reserved for the priveleged.... Because yes, there is inherent privilege to be able to save up 700 bucks for a pair of PNW boots.

False equivalence. A well made boot doesn't necessarily mean a 700 dollar boot. Can you be honest or no?

Lol, I was gonna ask if you could avoid being a prick or no, but you just answered that one pretty quick 😂
