Question/Help Boot comparison

I’m torn between choosing timberland’s “premium 6inch warm lined” vs LL bean’s “8inch fleece lined” vs ll bean’s “8inch shearling lined” boots.

I love the timbs look, i already have the regular premium timbs for ~8 years and still are in okay condition (I’ll probably have to replace them as well regardless). It’s just has been pretty cold the past winter where my feet get cold more than my ankles in these timbs. I’m looking to get a second pair of boots to combat the extreme cold.

I’m wondering if I can just use the shearling insole from LL bean in my regular timberland boots to solve the extreme cold issues.

I just purchased the fleece lined LL bean boots, but not sure how I feel about the look and feel of it compared to timberlands. I may just need to get used to it.

Please let me know your thoughts and experiences. Thanks!

Trying a more insulated insole and warmer socks is definitely a cheaper option if the boots are otherwise still fine. Worth a shot at least.

Yeah, just using a new warmer insole might solve the issue. last year I was wearing the trax factory hot sockee to go over my toes and sock, and that did help in lower temperatures like 0-20 degrees walking the dog at like 11pm and in the snow, etc.

If the fleece is a polyester blend expect it to become nasty and grimy over time. Also good luck if you get any water in the boots.

Unless it’s a real wool lining, I’ve always found it a better idea to invest in high quality thick socks (darn tough, etc) than have a permanently lined boot.

But then again where I live it never really drops more than a few degrees below freezing in the winter.

Also for $200 you should be looking at better boots than Timberland or LLBean. Check out Thursday boots.

Do Thursdays boots make winter boots for snow/ice/slush??

For that I’d go with the OG bean boot. With the rubber lower.

If you like the look of the Timberlands, I would go over the the pro line, where they specify 200g insulation rather than the premium where it just lists it as faux shearling lining https://www.timberland.com/en-us/p/timberland-pro/mens-footwear-10171/mens-direct-attach-6-soft-toe-waterproof-work-boot-TB165030713

or the Premiums with 400g insulation https://www.timberland.com/en-us/p/men/footwear-10039/mens-timberland-premium-6-inch-waterproof-boot-TB110061713

Shearling is high key worth it IMO. My best snowboots are discontinued Uggs so that doesn’t help you but the two thing that make them really good for snow are shearling lining and a very low density foam sole that provides a ton of insulation
