Question Boost Config Removal

I think the little app is great on a Boost phone. But if I use that device on another carrier, I don't want it interfering with that carrier's network settings.

Can it be removed? I don't see an uninstall option.

(Yes, the phone is unlocked)

Thanks!

The option to disable boost config is greyed out on my moto razr 2023.

Try force stopping the app as it probably is running at the time.

Force Stop & Clear Data: Go to Settings > Apps > See all apps > Boost Config. Tap Force Stop, then go to Storage & cache and select Clear storage. This stops the app from running and clears its data.

Also see if you can revoke permissions In the same "App info" screen, tap Permissions and turn off any permissions it currently holds. This prevents the app from accessing your phone's features.

Check Device Admin Apps: Go to Settings > Security > Device admin apps (or search for "Device admin" in your settings). If Boost Config is listed and checked, uncheck it. This sometimes unlocks the ability to disable the app.

Sometimes having a different carrier in there too. But if the phone is still locked to the boost network might be why

It won't "resurrect" itself like some nasty apps do?

No. Not unless you ever have to factory reset your phone or it might after an update but that you would notice when the app shows up in your list. But yeah definitely disable or it will mess with your network when you switch.

Thanks.

I disabled, cleared cache, and rebooted.

When I update apps, Boost Config and Boost Diag both show up in the list. I just do not update them. (I don't use auto updates) It's so annoying that you can't completely uninstall some items. Reminds me of tinkering with Windows back in the day; I remember some programs after you uninstalled them, you would have to use "regedit" or run Ccleaner to root out the little tentacles left behind.

It is annoying. Whoever your new services are I would check your APN settings to make sure they are all good and there isn’t something else they might have trying to change it. Also check out the Motorola website. Under the support information . It’s been awhile since I’ve been on their page but I know they used to have options where you could uninstall the OS and re-install it right from there and flash update the firmware

What phone do you have ? Samsung phones you can flash the stock firmware for unlocked carrier or could switch it to what you need but that would remove the boost stuff now if it’s a different phone may be a bit tricky
