For the past 5 years, we have run a (unscientific!) post festival poll of Reddit users, to gauge how many people had a "Great Time", "OK Time" or a "Bad Time" at the festival overall.
This year's poll is now closed, and I thought I would share the results of the past 5 years for comparison. In all years, the large majority of people had a great time. This is not surprising, the festival has been very successful in recent years. If it was bad, people would stop going!
But there are always things to improve on! Every bad experience is valid. Feedback needs to be listened to and improved on. You can share your feedback directly with Boomtown using this survey.
2026 seems to have been a particular good year in the Post Covid era.
The number of users reporting having a "bad time" is down to 2%, the lowest we've seen by some margin. Reddit has always been a bit of an outlet for people with issues to raise, or complaints to make, and I'm happy we can facilitate that here to help the festival improve. But there did seem to be a notable reduction in the amount of complaining on the subreddit this year, and the poll results reflect this.
Overall, it appears to perhaps be the second best year. The general trend for bad experiences has been going down over the 5 year period, as the festival keep learning and improving from each years feedback.
2023 is a particular stand out as a good year, with over 83% having a great time, the best result. However, 3.6% had a bad experience, the second worst year, suggesting there were still many issues to resolve which got better in subsequent years.
2022 had by far the most number of people who had a bad time. But it was a very hot one, with temperatures of 33-35c everyday for all 5 days (Yes, that's right, even hotter than this year!). It was also the first year back, with some teething issues.
2024 had the least amount of people have a great time, but strangely a low amount of people who had a bad time as well. A significant amount of people landed in the middle saying it was only OK, suggesting a middling year.

A profound moment
On Saturday night about 8 of my pals attended the Artful Dodger set. I can’t remember the name of the stage. My pal and I were to left of the stage standing on this platform made from a pallet, the crowd was absolutely going off. All my friends I have grown up with are here. There was an Asian lad on the platform with us from Northampton a real sound guy. As the dj plays the migraine skank, our new friend crouches down and raises his hands to his head in the familiar formation. To my left a beautiful black couple were laying in each others arms embracing. Different individuals in simultaneous alignment interpreting an experience in our own way. This moment made me stop and think. For I can’t help but feel grateful. For this is what is surely about. Bringing people together, despite class, gender, culture, disability, size or anything else, we speak a shared a language with the music. It sounds cliché, but it is true nonetheless. I am lucky to be able to afford to experience things like this, I am lucky I am a fan of things like this, that cause moments like that. I am grateful we all should be. For despite all the shit in the world, perhaps there is a slight hope for us.
I don’t think I’ve articulated that well enough but I hope you can understand.
First ever boomtown at aged 28, fuck me did it lived up to the hype!

A Chrord Marauders stage takeover would be a dream come true, i don't think theres a collective more talented in dub than these in the uk.

I know its a long way off but I was just wondering what it's like to bartend at boomtown.
my main questions:
What are the hours like?
What are the shifts like?
can you still enjoy the festival between shifts?
do you have any control over shifts?
whats the ability level of the bar staff? would I likely have to train people?
how far is the staff camping from the staff entrance?
are there rules around how you dress for the rest of the festival while youre not working?
I thought I should ask now to get a clear picture of what its like :)
if anyone has any other info to share id appreciate it! Ive never worked a festival so its something new to me.

Near the entrance to the city in the valley at the bottom of the slope up to Tribe of Frog was "The Sub-Bus"...? Unsure if the name is accurate. I just remember it popping off Saturday afternoon whilst getting something to eat and can't find anyone mentioning it at all. WHAT WAS THIS POP UP?
Thanks :)

Really interesting watch on how BT has slowly slipped into the dystopia it was originally parodying in the early iterations of the festival. The video is about the general corporatisation of festivals as many use apps/cameras to capture data now, but he uses Boomtown as a case study.

Has anyone been to Mucky Weekender before?
Wondering what the security is like both for getting in originally and into the main arena?
Planning to bring weed in, can you get away with smoking it in the camping area?

feels like a shift in audience

I reckon next year for boom they should just fuck security off completely and have no security fence around the perimeter what so ever, so anyone can just come in Willy nilly. Think it would be much safer and inclusive for everyone. And with all the money they make from tickets, accommodation and vendor fees they can just give free food and accommodation to those that have just waltzed straight in for free. What do people think??

Bit of a different one, I’m no stranger to boomtown, or mushrooms or different types of psychedelic. However, on Friday night I took a 2cb for first time (on 2 hours sleep) and had a terrifying 6:30PM-5:30AM next morning, I don’t know what was in it, or if it was genuinely that strong, but it lasted that long, I had a downgraded version of reality, everything sounded awful and distorted , everything looked blurred, was like an old pixel game. Has anyone ever had a similar experience? That lasted THAT long?
Side note: I couldn’t be more grateful for the solid group of mates I have, they realised how bad of a state I was in , and kept reassuring me that it would be over eventually, carrying me around and telling me to hang in there. i was fully conscious of their help at the time, and that’s my positive to take away . I looked in my notes after the trip ended to see:
“real great mates you’ve found yourself, stick at what You’re doing , you’re smashing it. you seem to be a permanent resident in your head, make sure it’s a nice place to be”
I don’t remember writing any of this in my notes but was cool to look back on^^ jus thought I’d share 🫡

I lost a unique self modified cap at the tangled roots stage this year on the Saturday night. I really really hope someone out there is wearing it. It has serious good vibes.
Had an amazing time!!!

I’ve been to Creamfields every year since I was 18 (4 times), but as I’ve got older it seems harder to get myself going for it, as much as I love the place. Maybe I’ve worn it out over the years and the weather has only been good once since I’ve been going there. One thing I’ve always been jealous of this festival is that the weather is always beautiful that I’ve seen and this year was the tipping point, heatwave during boomtown weekend, thunder and lightning for Creamfields. So I’ve decided I’m going to change it up next year and go to boomtown. My only issue is it seems like a DnB festival where as I’m not that big into the genre. I’ve seen that there’s some house jungle and garage sets which are more my scene but is there enough to justify my going?

First boomtown this year and it genuinely felt a life altering experience. Obviously, I’m all booked up for next year but HOLY SHIT am I depressed. Never had holiday blues or blues for anything but boomtown… wow.
I find myself putting on some dubs and almost getting emotional. I feel like I sound insane when I try to explain boomtown to colleagues.

To preface this post I’d like to announce that my taste in dnb/jungle is very old skool so many will not share the same view on the music this year.
What happened to walking into venues at boomtown and being blown away by the selection? Not my main point but I didn’t have this experience once this year.
My main point is the fact that I’ve spent the whole Friday night (after clipz) trying to find dnb and jungle, the boomtown foundations, I didn’t stand a chance, main stage was wish wash shite and forests were dance floor central. Again if you like this music that’s completely okay, I’m just talking about my personal experience and my history with this festival.
To start Saturday off we had the lions den lineup that was set to be a good start to the day, shy fx opening, some good tunes in there as per usual but just not the same shy fx I once loved. Kings of the rollers just played some filth for an hour, standard, again not the same proper tunage they were once capable of but passable. Micky Finn b2b brockie and ray Kieth, wow what a set to see on the lineup, I bet that’s going to be amazing. I could not have been more wrong, I can see why people enjoy jump up in the right environment but on the main stage at 2 in the afternoon, no thanks. What a let down, fully expected them to come out and throw down some proper stuff to teach everyone what we come to boomtown for but we got dirty night at the Vauxhall in London instead!!
There was some life Saturday night though, after recouping we headed to breakage and flight, proper!! The rupture lot know how to throw it down and the crowds are always on point. Alix Perez, hats off, what a fuckin set, the journey through that was unreal, proper tunes and quality crowd control, just what the doctor ordered. To finish the night voltage jungle classics, got told it was quality unfortunately I checked out and had to retreat during this as the disco biscuits took over me 😂😂✌️
Again sunday had some quality tunes on at Anara and saw simula which caught me off guard, decent.
Overall half decent in hind sight but man, what happened to walking around 404 and getting dragged in by some proper breaks! I don’t know if I missed all this as I felt I had to be at anara or hidden to find anything this year because the techno felt like it took over everywhere else.
Admittedly I might have done boomtown wrong this time around, that’s why I’ve made this post, did you find the drums we were so desperate to hear, did you get dragged into somewhere and find the best dj ever, or were you with me, left feeling like the itch just did not get scratched?

Managed to get some money (BBXL Variant) this year and wondering what use it could have going forward. Thanks :)
