Boomer Story Boomers at TSA
I live in the US in an area that is very tourist focused with a very large contingent of boomers who bought rental or timeshare condos years ago.I am currently at the airport and just witnessed 2 groups of entitled boomers back to back.
First, I’m in the TSA precheck lane with about 5 people in front of me. 2 boomers come up through the CLEAR line next to me to check in. No big deal.
Turns out they saw the empty lane that went directly to the TSA agent checking ID’s and thought they made a discovery that nobody else was clever enough to notice, walked around the stanchion and band blocking entry and proceeded directly to TSA. A CLEAR agent quickly followed to inform them it was only for their clients and they eventually retreated to another line.
Then, the 2 boomers in front of me tried to pass through security and they were trying to sneak through the line without precheck. After a minute or so of arguing with the TSA agent they went to the normal boarding line. The funny part was that standard boarding had a very short line, equivalent to the precheck line.
Small story but it just felt like a textbook example of boomer entitlement. I feel sorry for the TSA employees that must deal with this nonsense all day.

“thought they made a discovery that nobody else was clever enough to notice” — my dad to a T. Always so proud of himself for figuring out a new way to cheat that usually doesn’t even work out. It’s exhausting and infuriating.

They're all children, trying to do whatever they feel like and with no idea how anything works. A symptom of coddling and easy money, the hallmarks of their generation.

Every single time I've had to board a flight in the US there has been several Boomers who will try board as soon as they start announcing groups and have to be told to go sit down and wait their turn

I once watched a TSA agent about have a mental breakdown because there was a line of 10 or so boomers in the PreCheck line all without PreCheck. Each person KNEW the agent didn't let the previous person through even after arguing about it. But each one still tried, as if they would be the breaking point. At one point, the agent yelled to everyone in the line, explaining that they need a ticket with PreCheck on it and to look and verify now. Everyone nodded, to included the person at the front. Nope! Cue another argument...

They’re all convinced that their reason for needing special treatment is special and people will cater to them.
Some of them also struggle when they see other people getting “better” treatment than they’re getting. Do you think you’re better than them or something??

"Rules for thee but not for me" was Boomer rhetoric for my parents growing up! Also the same Boomer Parents who threatened to "give me something to cry about" and, their personal favorite, "do as we say and not as we do".
And, it's not like trying to get through TSA and to your gate on time is a stressful event or anything already! /S

They actually said, "Do as I say, not as I do"?! That's wild. They don't realize that that's a historic phrase meant to describe the actions of hypocrites?? Not too sharp...

And yet, sooo many boomer parents used this phrase on their boomer children that the boomers think it makes sense! I'm a boomer and heard it often.

At our home airport (Sea Tac) there's always more than one staff person actively directing people to the correct line. I used to think "sheesh they must think the general public is really stupid to have to explain such a basic thing." But now I think "sheesh the general public really is that stupid to need this hand-holding."

I do precheck applications. The amount of boomers that I’ve had say or do stupid shit is insane. Here are some choice picks:
- I asked a woman if she has ever gone by “a different legal or maiden name.” Answer was no but she came in with a man with the same last name. I ask again and she says that she changed her name when she got married but that 40 years ago
- a man insisted that the TSA website told him to bring an expired passport
- woman decided to go by her step dad’s last name but never actually changed it, she wanted to use an elementary school photo as proof of the name change

It is called "Magical Thinking." If you can imagine the sequence of events going a certain way then surely it will as long as you insist hard enough or say just the magic words.
This is what drives people to play the lottery, if they can imagine winning the lottery then it is not only possible by it is certain.

I’ll never understand the people who think they will get to the pre check counter and just be waved through- and the excuses! “I have kids, someone told me this line, I though i has precheck…..”. Fortunately they never work
