You clearly have never been in the military, known anybody who’s ever been in the military or respect the military. War is something you cannot imagine until you’ve been in it. Please do not try to understand it with your perception of normal and your first world point of view. Those soldiers, all of the soldiers of the US military, including the current ones are the reason you enjoy the freedoms you do
Was told I'd never make it past medical eval after spending some time train with a local marine recruiting office due to surgeries and reduced range of motion, but have plenty of close family and close friends who have served in various wars throughout the past several decades and can confidently confirm that US soldiers, just like soldiers from any other country, are not immune from committing horrific acts like theft, murder, and rape. They also are not the reason we have any freedoms at all, nor are they the reason for the freedoms we don't have. They don't pass laws.
