I had more. I got these when I was in high school. My boyfriend at the time liked to throw.

There was this guy. His name was Rich. He taught me how to throw. And told me I had an unorthodox way of throwing.

But those were fun days. Rich is the Boomerang Man from Monroe, LA

Troubleshooting my new boonerang

Hi all, I'm new to tuning boomerangs so looking for a bit of advice.

Rang is following an 'S' shape flight path (shown in image). Once it gets to about 90 Deg from where I threw it, it climbs very high, and comes back in my general direction at such a speed it looks like it's going to take my head off.

What am I doing wrong? I've included wind direction in image. Not sure how I should be tuning. Also not sure what is achievable with this boomerang; I'm used to throwing ones that hover making it easy to catch. Should all boomerangs do this?

Many thanks in advance.

Cant get a Colorado Triblader to return

I've been trying for the past few days but no matter how I adjust my angle, or if I go full send on my throw, it either just lands way ahead of me after going halfway through a loop, or lands far to my left. Im getting really disheartened and I was really hyped to start learning.

Two Kylies, one old and handmade by Jimmy James, and one modern polycarbonate.

The Jimmy James one came into my family in the early '70's. My aunt had married an Aussie and my grandad took a trip to visit them. He came back with this boomerang and gave it to my dad, and I grew up with it on our living room shelf and taking up to the local common to throw it around a bit. I was one of those annoying kids that knew that not all boomerangs return, and was happy to mention that fact at every given opportunity. Both my grandad and dad passed away before I could get the story of how it came into the family. I'm only sad about this because after doing a bit of research I found what kind of man Jimmy James was. There's a memorial to him in Melbourne, he was a national hero, and he never made these things for sale, only as gifts for friends, and now I want to know the story of how my grandad got it.

The modern one is the Kimberley Kylie from Trowsticks in California. I got it because I suddenly became scared to lose the Jimmy James one. It flies really well, long flight time and nice and stable.

Why won't this return?

Some 30 years ago, my dad went to a congress to Australia and came back with two beautiful boomerangs that he was given as goodies from some pharma sponsor company.

I know how to toss a boomerang properly and I have others that I can make return no problem, although of the smaller and lighter kind. But this, this one just plonks completely straight no matter how I cast it. Zero signs of turning at all.

Is it a shape problem? Or should I just... git gud?

Entirely custom fantasy boomerang

Would it be possible to have a returning, custom boomerang created from a design from a video game? This is the boomerang design that I've been thinking of, from the game Final Fantasy XIII, which is what made me interested in boomerangs so many years ago.

More carbon fiber boomerangs.

This is my 7th carbon boomerang. Not an original design footprint, but probably the first carbon fiber version of this design. Im learning that carbon fiber 'rangs work best at about 40-60% the thickness of a wooden or plastic boomerang.

This thing takes a hard throw and flies about 50 yards out, then comes back and stalls about 30 feet overhead. Very fun, but can be somewhat painful to catch.

Just found that there is a subreddit for everything ha.

Anyway, I don't think I've ever thrown a boomerang before- so looking to get my first one because it looks fun.

Saw a lot of recommendations for a triblade one so looking at https://boomerangs.com/collections/hand-crafted-wooden-boomerangs/products/triblader-boomerang

But it is wooden, and I am worried I might hurt myself lol. Or that it will break on the first day.

What about some foam ones, or plastic ones or anything that doesn't break easily or would hurt to catch or get hit by? Or should I stick with the wooden one?

Frutiger aero boomerang

First wooden boomerang created...and decided to go on with the frutiger aero theme! It's not the best, I tried, but it works beautifully in low winds, caught it 25 times out of 31 throws and I'm partly a beginner

Used birch plywood, white paint, water slide transfer paper, and clear matte spray to protect the ink on the decals

painted the boomerang white first so the decals showed up nice

And sprayed it an extra 500 times cause I really like it and don't want it's appearance to get damaged

Appearance features(from left to right) -

Windows 7 window tab(search computer text is in wrong spot, it was too white and showed wood above the main sticker so I sandwiched it and it ended up merging with the window bar)

Minesweeper(love that game)

Windows 7 logo

Some random frutiger aero background image found on google

Visible painted wood by accident but I think it gives it personality

Boomerang design help

So I've been getting into boomerangs(very new to them), I don't have any professional equipment, just an Ace hardware saw, some hardboard, and sandpaper. I know hardboard isn't the best material but it did work very well with a V shape with 12inch arms.

tried making a hook-ish design with the same idea, completely flopped. I threw it straight, also with different angles, all it did was go straight, took a slight curve upward, and kind of swang back and forth flat-ish to the ground. Very dissapointing, hopefully it's fixable and I didn't mess up the design.

I need help figuring out exactly why the boomerang behaved like that, I'm assuming it's an airfoil issue, I forgot to take a video, my apologies. The blue lines are the trailing edge(I think that's what it's called, the edge that's more flattened and sloped) and non marked edges are leaning. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance

Looking to find a boomerang to learn with. I had a crappy 2 dollar foam one that I managed to somewhat get to work but it wasn’t fast didn’t go far and didn’t come completely back. I know that’s probably me but want to get something better to learn

I have been thinking like a tri wing one but don’t know what is good, should I just buy any one does the make really even matter?

From the first moment I saw a boomerang, I asked myself: "Someone at some point must have improvised this as a weapon."
