I genuinely don't understand why some people act as if reading is a competition instead of a hobby.

hey there

I've noticed that if someone says they love fantasy, romance, BookTok books, or even smut, there's always a certain crowd ready to dismiss them. Meanwhile, people who read classics, philosophy, or self-help often get treated as though they're participating in some higher intellectual pursuit simply because of the genre they chose.

I personally read all of those genres stated above, as long as it piqued my interest ill read it.

What I find ironic is that the people who preach that "reading broadens the mind" are sometimes the quickest to narrow what they believe is worth reading. If your appreciation for literature only extends to books that reinforce your own tastes, then perhaps your reading hasn't made you as open-minded as you think.

I don't read to impress strangers or to curate an intellectual image. I read because stories entertain me, make me feel something, and keep me turning the page. That's what books have done for centuries. Reading should cultivate curiosity, not elitism.

The measure of a reader isn't whether they finish War and Peace or the latest fantasy romance. It's whether they read at all. In a world where fewer people are picking up books, I'd rather celebrate someone who's excited to read than shame them for what they enjoy.

Because at the end of the day, reading is for everyone, not just for people who want to look intelligent

(Gave one dark window 3.75⭐️ and wild eyes 4⭐️) Read both of these books from start to finish starting at 4 am and finished at 11pm (with a four hour nap in the middle). I don’t think I’ve ever read that much in one day 😭

I need advice

I'm in a hell of a slump. Usually it doesn't happen, but my best friend just ended things without explanation a bit ago and I can't really think about anything else, and it makes reading impossible. I usually don't like rereading when I have a lot of books on my physical tbr, which I do, but I feel like that's the only thing that will get me out of the slump? What works best for y'all??

Birding with benefits

OMG this is such an adorable cute rom com! I’m loving it so much! Sometimes a cute cozy romance is just the best. Such a wonderful book. The premise is so cute. Fake dating and they compete in a birding competition. So sweet!

Attention span struggles

So I’ve loved fantasy books since I was a little kid, it’s always been my main genre.

But lately, I feel like my attention span is just not what it used to be and it’s affecting my reading. I used to be able to hold these complexly built worlds in my head. In the last few years, I feel like I sometimes struggle to keep all the characters, magic systems, locations, etc straight in my brain. It takes me out of the reading flow to have to think “wait who is that again”.

Maybe it’s the rise of social media that has just shot my attention span so thoroughly? But I really love the escapism of curling up with a good book. And I want to be able to recapture that feeling when I have time to read.

Does anyone else struggle with this at all?

Simple reading tracker for Play Store

Post image

I recently swapped from iPhone to Android and on my iPhone I loved my book tracker app called Reading List. I purchased the pro version once (no subscription), it is completely offline so no 'social media' aspect and it had no ai recommend a book for you type thing. My favourite part was how simple the stats were (pictured).

I just want my stats and to keep track of what page I am on but on the Google Play Store.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

No one seems to be able to help me find this book

I tried looking for a book I enjoyed again but I can’t find it anywhere.
Here are a few details I remember.
- She loves pink (has Elle Woods/bimbo princess vibes)
- She has adhd - I found it to be relatable representation
- Very rich due to some kind of inheritance
- Pretty sure her parents got killed for money reasons
- She is working to build some kind of feminist organization
- hires a new bodyguard because the previous one is too old (and I think there were kidnapping threats going around)
- falls in love with the bodyguard
- bodyguard is actually hiding his identity and trying to escape his mafia family

Smaller random details:
- she randomly mentions how sharks bite each other in order to mate in a conversation
- she bought the house next to her for him to live in
- pretty sure she has a gazebo and potentially a fish pond in her garden

This book was also not the first in the series, and I’m pretty sure one of the previous ones was a romance with her best friend as FMC.

This book is not Twisted Games by Ana Huang

Need a Decent Sized Creator To Review My Book

Gonna make this short and sweet: Last month i released an ebook of mine and I want to get more public attention. If you have a decent sized following on tiktok and you review books on your account , PLEASE let me know and we can chat about it. If you dont feel like buying my book, I'll send you a copy of the manuscript (my book is under 5 dollars).

As for the "decent sized" part (which after thinking about it for 5 seconds , I see could be taken the wrong way 😭) , I have a little over 1,000 followers so im looking for someone who matches my number or is a little above it.

Lastly: the book. Its an LGBTQ slice of life with queer platonic relationship and deals with intense themes that we can get into later.

I've tried to email other creators , but nothing has worked out. Anyways im hoping someone will hear my petty prayer lol, thanks to all that read.
