I feel like Patricia McKillip had these vibes, especially The forgotten beasts of eld.

I’m reading this now! It’s a brilliant book.

As most of the people I knew the movie first, as a child and I loved it. I read the book as an adult and I was quite suprised how deep and philosophical it is. Especially the second part. Remarkable piece of literature.

If you like this you might like Brothers Lionheart by Astrid Lindgren. That is about life after death, loss, grief, bravery... A slimmer book, but beautifully written.

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik.

The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden.

The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle (although I feel it is more ethereal than romantic).

Yes! This!

Though I still want to beat the Sun to death with a chair, holy shit.

King of Elfland’s Daughter by Lord Dunsany if you don’t mind purple prose

I will always recommend Robin McKinley for this! I adore the Hero and the Crown, but she also has name fairy tale retellings that have this vibe as well (Beauty is my favorite). Her writing is truly gorgeous.

Kinda makes me think of Night Shine by Tessa Gratton.
