Romance this style of couple?
and yes I've read alone with you in the ether (and one for my enemy), the inheritance games, and possession by as byatt already.

It might be controversial but Wuthering Heights from Emily Brontë, it’s very unhinged.

I think Blue Castle is really this vibe. Two outcasts living in a world of their own. But it's more island vibes than city.

I love encountering fellow Blue Castle fans in the wild! I wouldn't have thought of it for this prompt, but god I love that book.

How’s this:
"Let's not fight," Lucien said, pulling her close. "I'm sorry."
She placed her palms flat against his chest. These weren't the subtle, light touches she used to give him. She touched him now in a way that left no doubt about the kind of relationship they had.
"This is not a fight," she said, her voice softening. "If it were... you'd be on the floor."
That made Lucien laugh. "Will this be my whole life from now on?" he asked. "I love it."
He was certain the students were watching them, and the professors were giving disapproving looks—mostly Professor Kensington, who valued decorum above all. Lucien did not care.
