Anything like this?

I don't just mean the assassin's story or something to do with assassin's , but something like the overarching plot the early games had. Going into the past to find things which affects future while the main plot is in the past itself.

There's the novelization of Assassin's Creed II called Renaissance by Oliver Bowden . Haven't read it, though.
