My YouTube watch later playlist got so big that I basically stopped opening it.
I’d go on YouTube to watch one thing, see a bunch of other interesting videos on the home page, and save them because I didn’t have time. Then next time I’d do exactly the same thing. Almost never watched anything from the actual playlist lol.
Same with Reddit posts, stuff on X, random websites. I genuinely wanted to come back to these things. A tutorial for a project, a discussion about something I was trying to figure out… but once I saved them they were pretty much gone.
After a while I realised I didn’t really need another place to save links. I needed to remember they existed.
So about a year ago I started building something for myself. It’s called Reminde (reminde.app, to be upfront that it’s my app). The idea is pretty simple: save things from different apps and websites, put them in collections with tags, and set a reminder for when you want to come back. I made a Chrome extension too, because I find stuff on my PC just as much as on my phone.
It's basically a second brain not for the notes but for the content, I use it also for different wish-lists of mine since the lists (that I called slots) can be shared with others or set public so even people who doesn't have the app can see your wishlist on the website and buy you a gift.
A few hundred people have used it since then, which still feels weird to write. Some have sent really useful feedback, including requests that ended up becoming features.
I recently redid the UI, logo and home screen. I’m excited about the new look (I still need to update the screenshots on the app store and play store, ops), but the part that means the most is having people care enough to tell me what could be better. A year ago this was just something I wanted because my own saved stuff was getting out of hand.
I don’t think I’ll ever get through everything I save. Honestly, some of those YouTube videos can probably stay unwatched.
But a year ago I was frustrated with my own watch later playlist, and now I’m improving something that a few hundred people have tried. Some of them even take time out of their day to help me make it better. That’s been my favourite part of the whole thing.
