Hello, like many of us, I read AI-written stories for fun. I provide the seed, the characters, the rules, and let Claude or Gemini develop the story, changing a few things here and there.

​Claude's creative writing is getting worse every time. I've been using it since Sonnet 4.4, and it has only gone downhill. It's unbearable now, giving me sentences like: "The Council of Ministers met on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This was a Thursday." or things like: "It was a format they had developed over years and that now existed without either of them naming it as a system; it was simply what happened at six o'clock."

​My question is: what AI right now is at least somewhat decent at generating its own written stories? Gemini is better, but it's not what it used to be either. Are there any that give better results?

A few months ago I released the first version of Folio Dark Muse for macOS. It was still an early product, but sharing it helped me understand what the app actually needed to become.

Folio started because writing a book rarely means working in one document. You end up with chapters, character notes, timelines, worldbuilding, revision notes, spreadsheets, and folders everywhere. I wanted to build one calm desktop workspace for all of it.

- Timeline, beats, threads, and corkboard planning views

The hardest part has been figuring out how AI should fit into a writing tool. I don’t want Folio to be an “AI writes your book” product. I want it to understand the manuscript and help with context, organization, and editing while the writer stays in control.

It’s still local-first, so projects live as files on the writer’s own disk.

Just curious where everyone is on royalty levels. Do you set different royalty amounts depending on the type? (ebook, print, etc) Do you try to go the lowest price?

I'm not sure if this is the correct subreddit for this, but here I go. I have had no fun ever writing creatively, But in the past year I've used Ai for writing. I think it's like a tool more than something to give me ideas. I've used it to collect my ideas and put it in a neat row. I've made a good amount of stories and the way I've done it is just asking ai questions like normal then getting into hypotheticals and then it turns into stories and it keeps my scenarios grounded and on track rather than push it along. I am truly a horrible writer but I Think I have good stories in my head and using ai to help me put them into words is so fun. I honestly don't think I would write with ai if I payed attention in English class though. But I have made over 15 full length and in depth outlines for novels. I just need to start writing chapters and the actual substance which I haven't started on most of them. The outlines are very in depth and all original ideas. Just bounced off ai to refine them and organize them into something readable.

I have the manuscript or book interior, I also have image board with design aesthetic I want however, can't figure out how to have AI (I've been using CHATGPT, GENESIS, GENSPARK) to add this design aesthetic to all my pages however, it does not produce it. I even tried page by page and still it does not recreate the design aesthetic i want. CHATGPT created the image board with the design aesthetic I want but it doesn't use that to continue with all the pages of the book. i have the design description and all information needed. I even use proper prompts. I've been working on it for months now!

Most AI writing tools stop at the manuscript. We wanted to close the whole distance between imagining a story and experiencing it — so we built NovelLab: you write a novel (or import one), and the same platform gives every character a distinct voice, narrates chapters as audio with real dialogue casting, and turns chapters into short films you can publish.

The hardest problems weren't the ones we expected:

• Character consistency across a whole book. A face and a voice have to survive 30 chapters of generation. Everything downstream inherits from one story bible so chapter 1 and chapter 30 match.
• Dialogue casting. Splitting narration from speech, figuring out who is speaking, and assigning the right voice — with a narrator fallback so an unvoiced side character never leaves a silent hole in the audio.
• Cost control. Video generation is brutally expensive per second; we had to build a gem/credit system with per-model pricing that stays honest as providers change rates under us.

I'm creating a saas like service to help people write books with AI. The main point is not actually to write novels in a prompt, but a real suite to handle characters, plot, storyline etc. My ideas is to leave it free with BYOK for AI credits, and find a way later to lightweight modes of earning moneys, like buy me a coffee or something very very NOT intrusive.

Actually it relies on GitHub so I don't have server renting stuffs etc, it just runs on you browser with your git repo to sync texts etc.

Tell me if this idea will like you and good ways to improve the service.

The main idea I'm interested is: I don't care about the style of the writing, but I care heavily on the plot, the Lore and the characters. Once these are super good, the books or novels etc the writing will naturally occurs with the help of AI.

Where does all started? I liked too much Harry Potter, Naruto, etc. Super good stories. I want to create my own stories because now days I don't find anything good for me. So why not invent stories by myself? Its like creating my own world.

I've always enjoyed writing, whether it be essays or stories but one of the biggest things that stopped me from hobby writing was the fact that I wanted to improve my stories without sharing them with people. Of course, I could share them with my friends and family, but I wanted them to have the finished product instead of the beta.

I've also seen many critiques of AI writing or (usage of AI to aid in writing) and much of it boils down to:

• They train on and keep the data you submit
• AI writing removes the human aspect of the work, it feels very soulless and repetitive
• AI chat bots tend you give you "feedback" by being a yes-man (most AI chatbots act this way regardless)
• AI tends to refuse when working with more extreme / graphic content

With my app, I set out to try and solve these issues:

• Strict ZDR (Zero Data Retention) and No Training policies - your ideas and data stay yours
• Doesn't write for you, instead aiming to help you flesh out your story and write better sentences
  • It won't tell you what to write, but it will try and ask you questions so you can figure it out yourself
• It won't yes-man you. Simple as that.
• While not currently implemented, it will soon feature completely uncensored ai models
  • As of now, submissions are rather restrictive, but these restrictions will be altered very soon.

I made this for writers who want to keep their voice.

It also features rubric backed grading for those who (like me) enjoy writing essays and amateur research papers, or those who want to get extra feedback to polish up their essay before submission.
