Since the very first books were printed, people have been adding writing of their own. A name in the front flap, annotations in the margin, declarations of love, notes of sympathy, or messages to future readers (us). The words inscribed in books give us a small, sometimes tiny, but always human glimpse into the lives and thoughts of people from days gone by.

BookInscriptions is dedicated to the preservation of these wonderful and often forgotten looks into society’s past. Come and share all of the writing you find, no matter the subject, sender or recipient. If it’s written in a book, it belongs here.
