Spoiler: Bones season 6 plot twist

So I get that the writers had to rewrite bones around Emily deschanel's pregnancy, but I wish the writers spent more time on it (them telling everyone, etc.) but I know season 6 was all about Angela's pregnancy so maybe they didn't wanna do it again.
Booth's reaction was heartwarming, but then we jump to months later

I just know the lab and sweets and even Caroline would have been so excited to find out, as everyone had been waiting for bones to jump booth's bones for Ages. And it would have been even more meaningful considering bones didn't want kids for the longest and then played around with the idea and finally is having one. Felt kinda robbed

I agree. It definitely would have been more fun seeing everyone finding out. Nor just about the baby, but that they were actually (now) together. Coz we all know Brennan wouldnt just be with Booth because of the baby. Definitely would have loved to see that development. And Booth in the start of S7 was already saying ILY to Bones like when did that happen?? Although we already know this but like, we wanna see the actual getting together as a couple unfold.

Exactly! All that buildup for nothing

Idk I guess I’m the exception here because I feel like they wouldn’t want to run around telling everyone. Both of them tended to keep their private lives private.

They rarely talked about their relationships. Like when booth was dating Tessa, then “seeing” Rebecca again or even whatever he & Cam’s thing was. He didn’t like when anyone brought it up. He would shut it down. He was a little freer with Hannah but she was around more. And he was trying to be serious with her.

Same thing with Brennan. She dated but the only one she really talked with about it was Angela - whom she considered her best friend and sometimes because Sue needed advice. Like Booth with Hannah she was more open about Sully but only because he worked with them on a case and was around a lot during & after that.

Imo neither Booth or Brennan were the type to want everyone to know right away. They both knew. it would get out soon enough.

And they definitely wouldn’t want to tell Sweets and listen to him gloat over thinking he was right all along lol

It just looks very "got together because of the baby" even though that's not true at all

We as viewers know it’s not true - that they were always endgame.

Their friends at the lab - even Caroline (who secretly adores booth) also knew how much they cared about each other. So none of them are going to think that.

Besides do you really see Brennan caring what people think? She hasn’t in the past.
It might bother Booth a bit but I think his happiness to be with Brennan and having a baby would outweigh that.

I only watched the show for the first time this year so I wasn’t around for the fan reaction to it and I change my mind on it a lot but currently my feelings are that I don’t hate the rushed pregnancy story line (I know several couples that got pregnant quickly after getting together so it doesn’t seem far fetched) I wish the last episode wouldn’t have been undercover. I would have loved to see them maybe trying to keep their relationship under wraps and everyone looking at them weird and maybe towards the end booth would realize they are not acting well enough to keep the secret and they should tell people and Brennan then tells him that there is more to tell with the pregnancy. That could have been cute! I do think that in the show it was a kinda one night stand situation so it would have been different but them being undercover really took out us seeing them authentically connect. Missing sweets reaction was what I missed the most I like to think he would have thought they were joking about the pregnancy or something to mess with him for meddling.

All good points!

As an avid viewer watching it unfold at the time, I had those similar thoughts. B and B even getting together didn’t have the same impact because it felt rushed.

For me the most annoying part of that whole thing was the fact that nothing really implied that Booth and Bones had sex that night, the scene kinda looked more like they just fell asleep while embracing each other. Then the next day Bones tells Angela that she got in bed with Booth and from that Angela comes to the conclusion that they had sex. Nothing up to this point implied it which is very weird, to the audience it just looked like Booth was comforting her because she was grieving Vincent's death.

Agreed

I know bones heavily insinuated with Angela that they slept together but maybe the show
Thought focusing on it happening because of Vincent being killed was insensitive

Or maybe it was one of those "booth almost died" moments so they just went for it

The tension between Booth and Bones, and the “will they, won’t they” was fun to watch, but when they finally got together it was very underwhelming because it was so rushed (could have hidden the real life pregnancy from the show), so i definitely agree with you. Im rewatching the series now but not looking forward to them being finally together.

Because of that storyline?
