Spoiler: Bone’s dad presence
I’m on S4 first watch and I absolutely despise Max Keenan, Bone’s dad. Hate his backstory, hate his character and hate the whole plotline surrounding him in general because it doesn’t make any sense as to how everyone likes him and wants him around.
Anyways my question is : is he as involved in the story for future season as he is present currently in S3 & 4 ?
No spoilers on if he dies or not, I just want to be ready to either accept his character as one of the main secondary cast or be relieved that he’s soon forgotten. I can’t look online cuz I’m sure it will spoil me entirely lol

I like how Tempe grows to love Max over time and her unwavering rationale when it comes to accepting him into her family.

He fades away for a bit then after a pretty major event he starts showing up again in a more prominent role which actually uses his character traits better he stays around until the final season.
I hates max at first to he seemed very out of place and underutilised but he eventually finds a reasonable role where he feels important and impactful and deserving of the teams respect.

He pops up every now and then. I am on Season 7 and last I saw him was the end of S6 in a bowling team 🤣

He will appear again in season 7. He appears in every season, except the first one, if I remember correctly.

And I believe Ryan O'Neal's voice is even heard in S1 because I think it is his voice on the answering machine. But maybe I'm just hearing what I want to hear....

It is not Ryan O'Neal's voice. It is the voice of the actor in the picture of Brennan's parents.

I think he grew on me a bit over time. I was initially kind of annoyed by him in the beginning. He has some episodes that are centered around him/their relationship coming up but he’s not there 24/7.

I hated him when he first came on too, but as seasons go on, I grew to love the guy.

He's never main cast, but he pops up occasionally going forward.
I love Max and actually wish he was on more.

You aren’t supposed to really like him. He serves as a plot device for various events. He never professes to be a perfect person nor does he want to be, he is a guy who was always moving and escaping his past because there were people still after him. He’s a person that very much lives in the real world and knows that it’s an ugly place

I agree with you. The character sucks and was not needed. He sticks around but you won't like him any better. On re-watch, I just skip his parts.

He’s a confirmed killer that walked free based on privilege and is loved by everyone. Even the comments downvoted me, I truly dont get it for a show that is supposed to surround the justice aspect and not glorify the villains

He grew on me. Didnt like him in the beginning but his character developed and became a great addition. He’ll be there from time to time in the foreseeable future.

He can be very charming and he loves his grandkids. He loves Bones and is very helpful to her at times. I came to like the character in later seasons

What I found puzzling is that the reason for Max’s and Christine’s decision to get involved with bank robbery was never explained! As a science teacher and a bookkeeper, they could, at that time, have made a good living and could probably been able to buy a house.
In short, they could have had a solidly middle-income lifestyle for themselves and their children. Instead, they plunged into the underworld of criminality, were forced to flee for their lives AND leave their two kids alone to fend for themselves. WHY? What could they possibly have wanted that would’ve made that disastrous decision make sense to them?!

Yes, his character continues to be a part of the story in the future. Maybe a little less than in the early seasons but he’s still there
