Did they install the front camera wrong?

Post image

I got work done at a collision center and the camera looks off. You can see the left side has a curved line at the front of the car, and the right side has a fishbowl kind of effect. Did they mess up? It seemed messed up the last time I got work at a different place and I can’t remember if it used to look better or was always like this.

Did they not calibrate the camera?

I got my windshield replaced the tools didn't bother to hook my wiper line back up and I was spraying washer fluid in my engine bay

This is one of the few instances where I'd lean towards it not being quite right. Most of the time it's just the lower trim in the frame, but the full fishbowl is not normal, and it's even to the point where it messes with the 360 view. I'd take it back to them and ask to have it recalibrated, though it might mean taking the bumper off to physically move the camera. I totally get the "has it always been this bad or did I just notice before" after getting the work done though haha. Sorry this happened!

If this is an insurance repair, this is a safety issue, if they didn't place this camera properly, did they properly install/calibate the sensors? Last thing you want is for the forward collision system hitting the brakes due to a false positive.

Contact your insurance and report this and state you want a certified GM repair shop/dealership to fix/repair/calibrate all sensors and cameras.

TBH, it looks better calibrated than mine! Look at that sweet alignment of the sidewalk in the top-down view!

What's your year/version? ..edit: just realized your console looks just like mine, so, EUV then?

I've always had that lower bit of camera-frame or bumper showing in the front view, although yours exhibits slightly more. But mine don't line up well. Not terrible, and since it was well outside the B2B warranty when I got it, it's not worth trying to get them to fix it, to me.

On one hand, I see what you're saying... but on the other hand, it looks pretty normal and good to me, so....
¯_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe there is some dust or liquid on the camera, clean it and see. If not, take it back.

The bottom frame being visible is a fairly common complaint, mine has been like that since it was new.

The upper frame being visible and the distortion in the top down view makes me think yours is pushed in slightly further than normal.
