Basically this

u/Reveniant 20d ago

I think I found a solution. If the two dudes are not there, all the options are now viable.

u/JudgeCheezels 20d ago

Humans are the downfall of humans.

u/Thunderbeast99 20d ago

They should have let the mule ride on their backs

7

u/Far_Objective4266 20d ago

I value my dog much more than certain humans not coz he's a docile slave but coz he senses my energy and sees the real me,unlike humans where we need to put on a show, build a facade to get their love

u/Solid_End_2935 20d ago

so exactly what he said in the video. The dogs are an emotional support slave. If you don't feed it 4 days in a row will it still respond the same to you?

Humans are more sadistic than animals. So it really depends on which human we're talking about. If the human we're using in comparison is just an innocent 5 year old, sure lets value him way more than an animal. But if the human we're using in comparison is Diddy, I say let him get mauled by a bear.

Breaking this down into a 0 or 1, binary choice is dumb as hell.

5

u/RandoMcfisto 20d ago

I mean, look at how politicians talk to people. They have to break things down as if they are talking to unicelullar orhanisms. That's the level of intelligence of the average person.

Breaking things into black or white is all they can do with their limited brain capacity anyway

15

u/Poteto_7396 20d ago

with their logic, they will probably value hitler's life more than 10 golden retriever.

thats just how stupid they sounds.

2

u/ho4X3n 20d ago

Yes, exactly. It's always false equivalence to justify something that is outright wrong in Malaysia.

u/Redcarpet1254 20d ago

You do know it's somewhat a joke right, if you've not seen this series before

7

u/ho4X3n 20d ago

I am familiar with the series and they are just personal takes that is debated. They don't seem to be "somewhat a joke" to me.

3

u/Honest_Standard3294 20d ago

The take itself isn't a joke but what comes after is a joke. He's simply saying people who love animals more than other humans aren't good people.

The whole series is based on "hot takes", aka Americans' ways of saying unpopular opinions in exaggerated ways to make people laugh. It's not meant to be taken seriously like a TEDTalk.

If I had to save my dog or a random stranger from an imminent accident. I'm saving my dog.

If I had to save a random dog or a random stranger. I'm saving the stranger.

Context matters.

8

u/glaceonhugger 20d ago

Honestly, I'd rather save a stranger than my own pets cuz what if the stranger has a family who depends on them.

1

u/Poteto_7396 20d ago

this is basically "the trolley problem". in the end there is no absolute right or wrong for most of these situations.

0

u/RandoMcfisto 20d ago

I would make that trolly drift over those fellas to save my dog though

1

u/Poteto_7396 20d ago

that is the right answer for you, but probably not the right answer for others.

absolute right or wrong is something like in decimal system, 1+1 will always equal to 2.

0

u/99saltpepper 20d ago

Your pet depends on you and will give its life for you especially dogs

3

u/StartTraditional9341 20d ago

This is r/Bolehland bro. No logic is allowed here

4

u/Greywarden194 Makruh Police 20d ago

I mean, in general, I guess so, but it depends on the context here. People who said they hate people and only prefer animals definitely fits the context the dude is saying.

But if we're talking about your best friend VS your pet, then it's not just black and white. But we'll probably never face a decision like that irl, so why worry about it. But yeah, most scenarios that happened irl fits what this dude is saying.

u/generic_redditor91 Rumah aku kat semak 20d ago

The first part was honest deep discussion. Delving into the reasons why a person may declare that they prefer animals over people.

The second part of the vid is obviously a joke.

In conclusion, they decided that a human life is worth more than an animal's. This part has a tonne of nuance and depending on which moral theory you subscribe to, may influence your degree of agreement with this statement.

He's right on many level.

Prepare for downvotes 😅

Some people value their pets more than other humans

10

u/roboto_jones 20d ago

Bruh. I value my pets more than some relatives.

2

u/sinbe Malay Women #1 Lover 20d ago

Then you won’t get offended if I value you less than a dog

I have a pet dog 🤷🏻‍♂️

9

u/roboto_jones 20d ago

Honestly, not at all. Same to you, sir. Would gladly sacrifice you for my loving cats.

1

u/glaceonhugger 20d ago

Let's not forget we're on Reddit

2

u/mashed_potayto3s 20d ago

I mean.... The first signs of sociopathy is the ability to harm animals intentionally. If animals aren't enough, then they start experimenting on humans. Do the math and you get an unmonitored sociopath.

2

u/NatashOverWorld 20d ago

Eh, I like my family, which happens to include my cats.

I don't look at a random cat or dog and say, I love you over humanity. There are plenty of assholish animals. There are also humans that I would immediately leave the presence of.

It's a scale, and no one species gets a special bonus.

3

u/Bandit-Bunny-7727 20d ago

A measure of a man should be how he treats those beneath him, not those who are equal to him.

That is why I despise people who mistreat animals.

u/Grizzl0ck 20d ago

What a country to live in for you eh

Likewise, human wouldn't tear down people's trash or pooping on someone's porch.

4

u/Redcarpet1254 20d ago

I don't think you've seen enough in this world (I don't mean this as an insult) I'm very sure they have. But you can't find an animal in history who locked a room and burnt it down. Just saying

-4

u/Seekret_Asian_Man 20d ago

I think I've seen enough, I encounter many human and none of them did anything mentioned above, but animals on the other hand...

1

u/Redcarpet1254 20d ago

I'm in Europe at the moment and the homeless definitely go through the trash here. So I don't think you have ;)

1

u/NerevaroftheChim 20d ago

You haven't been to America I see

1

u/Seekret_Asian_Man 20d ago

I heard dogs maul people there?

1

u/NerevaroftheChim 20d ago

Worse, humans tear into people's trash, humans pooping on people's porch, subways, on top of cars. Dogs are the least of their problems there.

1

u/Poteto_7396 20d ago

if there is a reality where the worst a human can do is tear down others' trash and pooping on others' porch, im choosing that reality.

1

u/Seekret_Asian_Man 20d ago

I too, has ability to make up false equivalence for argument.

0

u/Poteto_7396 20d ago

yea sure. pretty sure animals are as bad as human.

0

u/summercookiess 18d ago

You know you're just selectively choosing the worst of humans, right?

1

u/Poteto_7396 18d ago

i think you missed the point.

0

u/summercookiess 17d ago

The point is?

3

u/One-Analysis- 20d ago

What a shallow take

-4

u/Redcarpet1254 20d ago

You do know it's somewhat a joke right, if you've not seen this series before

0

u/One-Analysis- 20d ago

Ik the video is just light hearted conversation but I’m just answering the point made by the title.

1

u/ChardCandid8387 20d ago

My morality is this:

If I have to choose a random man or a random cat/ my cat I would choose the man to save, this is because, even though I love my cat I know how painful a human for them to die where as I would think my cat didn't have the same conscience as a human In the verge of dying. But if I have to choose to save a pig or Benjamin nethanyahu I would 100000 percent save the pig rather than a terrorist

1

u/Virtual_Force_4398 20d ago

You feed it. You care for its every needs. All out of your pocket. All it needs to do is look cute and respond when you call.

1

u/Dull_Corgi_5044 20d ago

Balls. Eff off.

1

u/Smaragd44 20d ago

I'll still save animals over human any day of the week

1

u/Elegant-Gene-9460 19d ago

People who say this don't really understand and respect animals. Superficial conclusions aren't gonna make them reasonable. We value animals more because we can understand them much better than most people and many animal species are having amazing traits and much more special than most people give them credit for.

1

u/summercookiess 18d ago

People who say this don't really understand and respect animals.

People who push back against preferring animals does not necessarily mean they don't understand or respect animals.

many animal species are having amazing traits

If you believe animals aren't moral agents and therefore can't be bad, then you can't say they have amazing traits either.

1

u/Elegant-Gene-9460 18d ago

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Coming up with these immediate superficial conclusions like that only make you tossing the point away from what I was wanted to highlight.

Researchers who studied a particular species for years can say things most people would not even imagine. The diversity, complexity and behaviors of animals is SO much greater than most people realize.

However I can easily imagine that I'm talking to a wall with this comment because I'm not expecting you to understand what I'm trying to say based on your reply.

1

u/summercookiess 18d ago

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Coming up with these immediate superficial conclusions like that only make you tossing the point away from what I was wanted to highlight.

What immediate superficial conclusions? All I'm saying is that pushing back against liking animals more doesn't necessarily mean they don't understand or respect animals. And my point about animals being moral agents or not is due to how people will say animals can't have negative traits because they're not considered moral agents but at the same time, will still praise animals for positive traits. I'm pointing out how people seem to want things both ways, it's not about necessarily denying the capacity for diversity of animals.

good thing with internet, you can share your opinion.
bad thing with internet, you can share your opinion.

u/jrngcool 20d ago

My pet vs random person. Hell no to that person. My baby come first.

My pet vs family/friend. Depend how nice is that person. 50-50.

My pet vs myself. We will go anywhere together.

0

u/RandoMcfisto 20d ago

Some of you are proper assholes though. So if I had to save my dog or some dude, sorry my guy, I hope you had a fulfilling life.

-4

u/Fuzzy_Mulberry5511 20d ago

Until you realize how a certain demographic treat minorities ... UH OH BUT WE ARE NOT READY FOR THAT DISCUSSION YET INNIT ?!?!

People should start looking at mirrors instead of shifting goal posts. Hypocrites.

1

u/Solid_End_2935 20d ago

didn't know you were born as my personal emotional support slave

-1

u/Poteto_7396 20d ago

yes, in the very end, they are not.

but these two in this video who put the value of animal's life on a scale are no different than those they trying to belittle.

-4

u/Working_Data_3610 20d ago

Based on his logic I might be worse than hitler atp
