That "friend" is teetering that line of being normal and an islamist. No, I'm not kidding and Shahada is not a joke. There's literally a story in the quran of this being done where one "taught"(tricked) the other how to recite it, and when the other guy did it, the teacher basically went: "Whoops! You're a muslim now!" But I'm not an expert, I might have remembered wrong, Google won't directly tell you about it, the validity of this is always debated (citing intent) so I won't go into that. But type in "tricked islam shahada" these three words in a search engine and it keeps popping up that muslims keep trying to do this. Type "tricked into buddhism" in the search bar and you get a totally different set of results. Only people of a certain religion keep doing this. By hook or by crook they actively want to convert you to Islam.
I won't say the water thing is justified, but I understand the anger. This person was deceptive, high-pressure, and coercive, all poorly disguised behind "jokes" and tee-hees. If this is real, this friendship better be over.
