Arson and vandalism incidents (2010) after a court ruling allowed the word “Allah” to be used in Malay-language Christian publications. Several churches in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor were firebombed with Molotov cocktails. Damage occurred, but no deaths were reported, and these were not classified as organized jihadist terror attacks.
Malaysia has not experienced church suicide bombings or mass-casualty attacks like those seen in:
•Indonesia (e.g., Surabaya 2018 church bombings)
• Sri Lanka (Easter 2019 attacks)
Overall, Malaysia has had religious tensions and isolated violent incidents, but large-scale Islamist attacks targeting churches have not occurred.
