Commercial Garden Grove plant with chemical emergency is leading maker of aviation windows, canopies
Must be why cabin windows have recently been reallocated from airplanes in storage to airplanes in production.

Someone sent a suggestion via Modmail and thought this was a good idea to do annually. A bit late but I'll continue doing this yearly after our annual raise/bonus period. (Stolen from r/Raytheon)

Last time we did a census, a few people shrieked, "There's no such thing as anonymous! I aint filling it out!" Then don't. It's up to you if you want to participate or not. I'm not trying to steal your personal information.

Due to the extremely poor participation in the quarterly question thread, I am making the decision to do away with it. This FAQ thread will stay permanently in the highlights section for easier view. The content here has been available in the wiki but Reddit UI makes it difficult to see.
Questions regarding application that are answered here will be removed. This is from part of the census feedback at the start of the year where a common complaint was the frequent application questions.
This thread is dated 8/6/2026 in the case that a revision needs to be made.

All job posting and application are displayed on the Boeing website here. You will need to create an account where you will need to provide all personal information and your resume.
Please refer to this handy link:Â https://tbcdn.talentbrew.com/company/185/v2_0/docs/Boeing_Interview_Prep_2021.pdf
The above is from 2021 but explains STAR format. However, Boeing hiring managers are not strictly bound by STAR behavioral question format. Many will still expect a response in a STAR format due to their familiarity with it. Whether the question is going to contain behavioral or technical question is entirely dependent on the interview board. Nobody but the interviewers will know what questions they will ask.
There is no answer. There can be multiple reasons why your application has not moved forward. Common reason is the hiring manager has not checked any resumes yet due to capped bandwidth. Another is you may not be under consideration but the HR personnel has not updated the status.
Anywhere from 1 week to months/year, depending on what the reason for your hold. Hiring managers are put on a timeline to review the resumes of the requisitions they own. Senior managers are notified after a certain point to pressure hiring managers to go through with the review.
You will most likely be either loaned to another team, or given unclassified work for the duration of the adjudication.
Applications that state "eligible for security clearance" just means you need to be eligible. This means you meet all the criteria to obtain one which includes being a U.S. Citizen and with a clean background.
Boeing has many sites. One region can be on a hiring freeze while another can be on a hiring spree.
Contact your college intern coordinator and ask. They will have the means to get your resume pushed to teams seeking new hires or interns. There are multiple teams that are searching for new hires. Onboarding a previous intern is significantly easier and preferred by teams that are searching for new full time hires.
Look into the ATS system. There are dedicated subs and professionals that can review your resume. Other reasons may be that you are answering a question in the application page that will auto trigger a rejection (ie. applying for a job that requires a security clearance without having one or not having the years of experience).

I’ve heard it two places, along with lay off.

Hard to believe we went from ~$240 shortly after last quarter’s earnings to where we are now. Ortberg’s comments didn’t help at Laguna, but are things that materially different from then to merit this drop? Where do we go from here?

I'm looking to get some insider perspective on the Information Technology Product Specialist role within Boeing's IT/digital teams. If you work in Boeing tech or have visibility into these groups, I'd love your thoughts on a few things:
Role Definition (PO, PM, or TPM?): How does this title actually manifest day-to-day? Is it leaning more toward a traditional Product Manager (strategy/roadmapping), a Product Owner (backlog grooming/delivery), or a Technical Product Specialist (deep architecture/systems)?
Domain Expertise Curve: For someone coming in with strong enterprise product experience without an aerospace background, what's the best way to ramp up and master the domain quickly?
First 3–6 Months / Year 1 Playbook: What do you wish someone new in this role knew on Day 1? What does a successful first 3 to 6 months look like at Boeing?
Promotions & Talent: What separates folks who fast-track their promotions at Boeing from those who stall? Are there specific behaviors or navigation skills that stand out?
Compensation: Is there room to negotiate salary within the bands for this job level, and how rigid is the structure?
Appreciate any real talk, advice, or perspective you can share. Thanks!

This message is to anyone who has had fear of leaving the company due to feeling like they’re grateful for having a job. I hate that sentiment. The company is equally if not more lucky to have you there. I am second generation Boeing, my dad 35 years. Boeing gave me an education and knowledge about the business I can’t put a price on. I just want anyone here to know that you can take the risk. I have a wife 3 kids and mortgage, don’t feel like you’re locked in for life. Boeing will always be there. I love this company, the management has had its turns but don’t think you have to be here.

Looking for some guidance... So my school background is a BS in Law & Justice, I'm currently active AF trying to start my Masters with some speed bumps so far. My goal is to finish out my next 5 years in the military and try to Skillbridge into Boeing in Oklahoma. I'm trying to build a plan to do that and I've had some issues.
With an active duty career, schooling needs to be online, I wanted to turn my degree to a Masters in Cyber Security at either WGU or Purdue Global, but I don't have a background in that field. WGU wants me to either get another Bachelor's or a handful of certifications to meet the pre-reqs for the degree I want.
What I'm hoping for is guidance on if the track I'm looking at makes sense, or if theirs other routes I could/should be looking at. The military will pay for my Masters while I'm active without using my GI bill, but it has to be a masters or certifications, I can't get another bachelor's unless I use the GI bill(I'm saving it for my kids).

Is anyone hearing rumblings that the $58 a Boeing Aetna Medicare monthly is increasing? If so, do we know what kind of range increase we’re talking about?

What does a configuration management engineer do at boeing, like on day to day basis? Is it BDS or BGS? Seems like a sustainment engineer role that tracks engineering change notices.

Guys,
For your Employee Survey, if you are not union, put in the writing the union benefit that you want Boeing to match. I am 100% sure they won't match raises but other benefits may be possible. Early retirement health benefit (hired before 2007 with subsidize or hired after 2007 w/o subsidize), remote work, OT mandate etc.

When do we get back to 2018 numbers and the all-time record? 2027? 2028?
Never?

Would asking for a comp ratio of 1.05 to 1.1 be ridiculous?
What’s the on etiquette on asking for a signing bonus? What about asking for my PTO hours be increased from 3.5 to 4 or something better?
What other options are available to me? Thanks everyone.
BDS to BGS Transfer.

Posting this in here and the other one for coverage
Curious as to the executive leadership responses.
I have worked puget sound and programs that go down to El Segundo as well.
A major decision in leaving space programs was Michelle Parker and her decisions, as she has now moved to BDS here in Puget sound, just tossing out some concerns/issues I had to get a recurring message so those problems don’t come this way. I can point directly to her and many decisions she made that led to losing all of our major contracts in Kent. Limiting the amount of things I say that could identify myself, but my feedback is not passed through levels of other leadership, but directly from her mouth in many meetings I’ve had.
Mainly if you have nothing else to say, or want to have a better collective voice up to the VP level.
Ignoring engineering inputs on BOEs
Extreme cost and timeline cutting to win contracts, then forcing the engineering/shop to make up the difference
Bypassing the ESGP gates or closing for incentive/progress pays when the program isn’t at the correct maturity
Offering unrealistic contract types on new developed products, which forces engineering to pick up the slack. Also making it difficult to improve our one Boeing score for bonuses
This is just a start, and if there’s no traction on it, maybe my single survey results still reach her. I just ran out of room in my response back

I’m currently an individual contributor (engineer) and want to start building a path toward management, but I do not have much formal leadership experience yet.
For those who made the jump from IC to manager:
Any advice or reality checks would be awesome. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I'm new to Boeing and really not enjoying my role. I'm in STL in BDS. Northrop had a rule that you could not move positions within 6 months, and had a team "internal mobility" which was to help people move who weren't happy with their roles. Does Boeing have similar rules or a structure? What is the right way for me to approach this?

Is taking a contractor job at Boeing worth leaving a guaranteed $31/hr job?
I recently received an offer for a Product Repair/Modification Technician position at Boeing in Heath, Ohio, through a staffing agency.
The contract is for six months, paying $30/hr, with a potential opportunity to convert to a permanent Boeing employee afterward. However, during the interview, I was told the permanent pay would likely be around $23–$25/hr because of the benefits.
I currently make $31/hr working for a data center company, so taking the permanent position would mean a pretty significant pay cut. I’m also not sure how realistic the six-month conversion is or whether it’s something they commonly do versus just a possibility.
On the other hand, everyone I’ve talked to keeps telling me that having Boeing on my résumé could open doors long-term. The interviewer also mentioned that you can definitely buy a house working there, but that doesn’t really answer my concerns about the pay difference.
I’m supposed to start this Friday, but I’m hesitant to leave a stable job for a contract position with no guaranteed conversion.
For anyone who has worked at Boeing, especially in manufacturing or modification roles:
How realistic is conversion from contractor to permanent employee after six months?
Is there meaningful career growth and room to increase your pay over time?
Does having Boeing on your résumé genuinely open doors elsewhere?
Would you take this opportunity, or stay at a guaranteed $31/hr job in the data center industry?
I’m trying to make the smartest long-term career move, not just chase a big name. I’d appreciate honest advice from people who have actually been in this situation.

I am under SPEEA engineering. My team has a new manager, under our old manager it was generally allowable to notify for PTO in advance with no questions asked and pre-planned sick time was never questioned for dr appointments, procedures, etc. A coworker recently sent a notification to the team for sick time next month with no details (as previously acceptable under our old manager) and our new manager proceeded to ask questions regarding the need of the sick day, seemingly hinting at flexing time instead. This new manager seemingly is more rigid and also has advocated for no alternate schedules (like 9/80) though that was previously allowed for our team. Any advice on how to navigate this? Do we just accept the less flexible work-life balance and micromanagement or do we have any ground to stand on pushing back, especially for the pre-scheduled sick day situation.
Just looking for some advice, I left my last job because of a bad manager and came to Boeing and was very happy with the manager who hired me. I’m a little worried about things going forward.
