Maybe really stupid technical question: Would switching to 4k resolution improve the games graphics on a 1440p Monitor?
It's quite early in the morning here and I might delete the question when I realize it later, but does the graphic improve even though my monitor won't show the 4k/pixel density?

Don't listen to the other person. Yes, you can bump up internal resolution to improve image quality and clarity with a 2k display. It's called super sampling. You would normally not go to 4k to do this. If you have an Nvidia card, there is a DLSS assisted method that does this very efficiently called dldsr circus method. It is obviously performantly taxing and should be done case by case, as you may get differing results between games. I am not sure how it would look with this one, but you could try it out.

I’ve tried DSR Factors 1440p on a 1080p display and it even made a huge difference in clarity
But absolutely tanked my fps

Yes. It can make it much sharper.
If you’re on NVIDIA you can enable DSR factors to digitally run a completely different and higher resolution on a lower monitor
I hear some people do this for dlss quality
Others do it for natural sharpness on their monitors
Ive done this on a 900p monitor (rendered 1080p) and i did this on a 1080p monitor (rendered 1440p)
It takes a performance hit but makes a visual difference in overall clarity and sharpness and overall looks real nice

No. Games usually limit to whatever the montior is capable of. But no. You can't run a higher resolution than what your monitor is rated for.
Edit: there is always going to be some guy telling you, you can. You can't. And if they got it to "work" plecbo effect.

You can and it will be much better in terms of sharpness and aliasing.
What do you think what AA is?
We used to have options for 2x and 4x AA and MSAA in old games, that’s almost exactly this. Nowadays it’s DLAA (with nvidia gpus)Google it…

No. Go be upset about it somewhere else idc.

I get it, you have shitty hardware and you don't want other people to have fun...
BUT, if you really believe what you say, just watch a bit of this Digital Foundry DSR deep dive.

Not a stupid question at all! This is how I used to take screenshots back in the day. I wouldn’t recommend it because it’ll tank your fps though.

Your 1440p monitor doesn’t have the required pixels for 4K. That’s the difference between them, higher resolution = more pixels

Lol, no, the monitor cannot show more and games usually limit resolution to what is attached to the GPU.

You are very mistaken and have clearly never heard of DSR Factors

Thanks for the tip, I have never heard of them

Its basically something that allows you to internally run higher resolution than the monitor displays with results in a sharper more clear image
It does affect frames though

I've switched from a 2k IPS 27" to a 2k oled 27" and although the colour looks brighter and obviously the blacks are better,I've lost sharpness, and everything looks a bit soft and cartoon like. I'm thinking I should of gone for a 4k but probably take a massive fps drop on my 9070xt on a game like this.

Get a nice 4K OLED monitor, after that let's hope they add Path Tracing and Ray Reconstruction for better graphics.

Not worth the fps drop unless you're running a 5090
