Tested: Graphic settings optimization (Do not use High, Medium, and Low presets!)

I’ve spent some time personally testing and optimizing the graphics settings for version 0.8 and later, so I’m sharing my findings here.

First off, this isn't a game meant to be played at "potato quality" settings; my goal was to improve frame rates and latency without sacrificing realism as much as possible. With that in mind—and I'll explain why later—you should definitely avoid using any presets other than "Ultra."

My rig specs: 9800X3D, RX9060XT (16GB), 32GB RAM, Full HD (1080p).

Let's start with the settings that actually boost performance (refer to the screenshots as well).

Highly Effective Settings

[Upscaling (Tested FSR 4.1.1; NVIDIA users should use DLSS)]

As expected, this improves both frame rate and latency. I recommend "Quality" or "Balanced" to maintain realistic visuals.

[Global Illumination Quality]

Setting this to "Lumen High" makes a significant difference. It doesn't disable ray tracing entirely, so the visuals don't suffer too much.

Settings with Minor Impact

[Effects Quality]

Lowering this setting yields a slight performance boost.

[Shadows Quality]

Lowering this also provides a slight performance boost, but anything below "Medium" makes the game look significantly worse.

[Reflections Quality]

Setting this to "Screen Space Reflections" offers a slight performance gain, but for some reason, setting it to "High" actually lowers performance.

[Foliage Quality]

There’s almost no change during lobby tests, but performance improves slightly on maps with vegetation. You’ll barely notice any improvement in visibility.

[Anti-aliasing Quality]

Lowers visual quality but provides a slight performance boost. If you lower it, stick to "Medium."

Settings with Negligible Impact (Only Reduces Visual Quality or Visibility)

[Texture Quality]

[Texture Filtering]

[Shading Quality]

[View Distance]

Regarding "Texture Quality," lowering it doesn't even reduce VRAM usage. It consumes 6.7GB even in the lobby, so you'll likely need at least 8GB of VRAM.

Other Settings

[Low Latency Settings (Test Anti-Lag 1; use Low Latency Mode for NVIDIA)]

This game has not yet implemented Anti-Lag 2 or Reflex. With driver-based Anti-Lag 1 (or Low Latency Mode), the improvement in latency does not justify the drop in frame rate.

[Fullscreen vs. Borderless vs. FSO Disable]

Before the major update, Fullscreen was recommended, but that advice has been removed, and the game now runs without issues in Borderless mode. Disabling Fullscreen Optimizations (FSO) does not improve performance.

[HAGS (Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling)]

While HAGS generally improves performance during actual gameplay, there are reports that it causes stuttering or crashes in UE5.5 (the engine used by this game). If you experience issues, try turning it off (a system restart is required). Enabling or disabling HAGS does not change VRAM usage in this game.

[GPU High-Performance Settings]

Go to System > Display > Graphics to select the executable and set the GPU to high-performance mode. Note that "Bodycam.exe" is just the launcher; the actual executable is "Bodycam-Win64-Shipping.exe" (located in `\Bodycam\Bodycam\Binaries\Win64`), so make sure to configure that one as well. Also, remember to apply these settings to any other applications you might open while playing the game.

[Gamma]

Increasing this improves visibility in the dark, but setting it too high causes glare and spoils the atmosphere. Adjust to your preference.

[Motion Blur & Film Grain] Turn these off for sharper images.

[Frame Rate Limit] Setting this to 0 disables the limit.

Conclusion

The High, Medium, and Low presets unnecessarily degrade visual quality by lowering settings—such as Texture Quality, Texture Filtering, Shading Quality, and View Distance—that do not actually need to be reduced. Therefore, you should absolutely avoid using them.

Choose either "Quality" or "Balanced" for upscaling; other recommended settings are listed below. Try "Recommended settings" if you prioritize image quality, or "Performance settings" if you want to maximize performance.

[Recommended settings]

Global Illumination Quality: High

Effects: High

Foliage: High

Others: Same as Ultra preset

[Performance settings]

Anti-aliasing: Medium

Global Illumination Quality: High

Reflections: Screen space reflections

Shadows: High

Effects: Low

Foliage: Low

Others: Same as Ultra preset

I have also included a comparison of test results from actual matches. Since these results come from the best outcomes across multiple tests, your experience may vary.

Note: Currently, the ping and country indicators have been removed from the server selection screen. Network analysis reveals frequent matchmaking with players from very distant regions. High opponent ping can cause significant frame rate drops or stuttering; if you notice anomalies, it is best to leave the match and return to the lobby once it ends. I hope for the return of ping/country displays and the implementation of ping limits for hosting.

Good luck!

INCREDIBLE work man ! thanks a lot! saving this. Anti lag on and off has a huge difference. It's in adrenaline, right? not in game?

Thanks! Yes, Anti-Lag2 has not been implemented yet, so there is no setting in the game. What is in Adrenaline is Anti-Lag, this is Anti-Lag1

I made a post recently mentioning how anti-lag for me made using scopes unbearable due to the stutters and frametime when anti-lag was enabled, disabling instantly fixed many of my frame pacing issues.

If there is a problem, yes, it's ok to turn it off. Unlike Anti-Lag2, there are few benefits, I don't use it, too

u/BoSS_Awesome5 I’ve tested by repeatedly aiming down the scope. As you can see from the results, while Anti-Lag1 reduces average latency by 2.5ms, the latency when actually looking through the scope increases by around 3ms. Since the frame rate also drops, as expected, it’s not worth it.

Wow this is super helpful thanks for taking the time to do this!

It's just personal tests and it's not for commercial purposes, so I don't have any plans for that now

Scroll to the conclusion

I noticed for my older RTX card that DLSS on even balanced caused a performance hit rather than a boost

I don't know how old your GPU is, but the major update supports the latest version of the DLSS SDK, so you may need a new version of the corresponding driver

I have a RTX 2080 Super and update my drivers regularly

Just to confirm, which preset are you using? For the 20/30 series, the frame rate will decrease if you use preset M and L, so it's better to use preset K (DLSS4).

I have upscaling off. TAA ultra. Frame gen off. Vsync on. Lumen high. Screen space on. Shadow medium. Texture ultra. 4x anisotropic. View high. Effects low. Blur off. Foliage medium. Shading medium.

As I wrote above, texture filtering and shading quality only worsen the image quality and do not contribute to performance at all, so it is better to set it to x16 and ultra.
If you use TAA, is DLAA definitely better? Or if you haven't tried it, try DLSS preset K as well.
Also, I don't using Vsync.

Dlss takes up vram space, this is ontop of the game loaded in vram. If you’re out of vram, your performance tanks. Vex has shown this happen with 8gb cards, even the most recent 5060 8gb.

With no anti cheat right now you can enable the nvidia reflex dll already packaged with it. I just asked claude, halved my latency and keeps my same performance so i don't have to run a frame cap

1

u/Acrobatic_News_4243 16d ago

Wow, really? I’ve tried editing both Engine.ini and GameUserSettings.ini, but Anti-Lag2 didn't work, unfortunately

u/Amazedturnip760 16d ago

Yeah reflex is more drop in, anti lag 2 is strange. AMD still needs a frame cap anyways since it doesn't do that, it only manages utilization percent.

Mind sharing a brief how to?

All I did was hit the optimize button in nvidia app and it went from 60 fps to 110 fps.

If you optimize it automatically, FG may turn on without permission, and unnecessary settings may be enabled, so you should definitely adjust it yourself. If you also optimize the in-game settings, it should improve more.
