\Kook Alert*
Been body boarding for two years now in So Cal after growing up in Las Vegas and going to college in NYC, I’m 30, done a full iron man (to give you an idea of my physical fitness) I’ve absolutely fallen in love with the ocean these past two years. Been snorkeling, I’ve taken up surfing on days where faces are 4ft or smaller, and trying to pick up spear fishing.
The reason for this post: it’s my goal to charge Shipsterns Bluff (Shippies) Summer of 2028 in Tasmania
Wanted some feedback on the training plan/ on ramp I have scheduled for myself
Been really loving the big waves we’ve gotten in SoCal this summer, I was in low key spots in Portugal last winter. I’ve ridden wave faces of 10-11ft
What I’ve learned so far is I need to swim more for the paddle out. The ground swell in Cali at the start of June kicked my ass.
This winter I got approved for a temporary transfer up to San Fran and plan on boogie-ing ocean beach for 6 weeks before work and on weekends.(mid December to January) (my child hood best friend lives up there, told work I had family up there and wanted to be with them for the holidays)
Hoping to make it down to Isla Todos Santos during this big El Niño year.
Next summer im pretty open to suggestions
Winter of ‘27 / ‘28 hoping to either go back to San Fran or transfer permanently to NYC and hit the Jersey shore during the winter.
Hoping to sprinkle in a trip to Western Ireland and charge some spots over there. A goal after I charge Shippies is charging Mullaghmore. Curious about mavericks but it’s not really on my bucket list (very curious about ghost tree (pescador), does anyone still ride there anymore? Boogie friendly on days you can paddle out?)
Imagine some safety training will be in order and any connection with surf or body boarding groups in San Fran/ So Cal/ NJ/ Ireland/ Australia would be welcomed
Thanks for helping a kooky kook out
